What is Darby and Joan about?
Retired cop Jack Darby (Bryan Brown) drives along in his battered Landcruiser, his dog his only company. From the opposite direction comes English nurse Joan (Greta Scacchi) in her shiny-new, behemoth motorhome. Joan is on a pilgrimage to find answers about her husband’s mysterious death, while Jack has taken to the open road to escape his past. But when they collide in the Australian outback, they become drawn into a series of unexpected mysteries as each looks for clues to solve their own personal quandaries. The unlikely pair soon realize the most intriguing puzzle they face is each other.
Who's in the Darby and Joan cast?
Greta Scacchi (Joan Kirkhope)
Born in Italy but raised primarily in England and Australia, Scacchi is fluent in English, French, Italian and German. She famously turned down the role of Catherine Trammell in Basic Instinct. Her daughter with actor Vincent D'Onofrio is actress Leila George.
Bryan Brown (Jack Darby)
Brown has over 80 television and film credits to his name including the film Breaker Morant and the TV mini-series, The Thornbirds where he met his wife, Rachel Ward. The two have three children and are grandparents to two grandchildren.
In the '80s and '90s, Brown starred in several hit films including Cocktail (opposite Tom Cruise), the Oscar-nominated Gorillas in the Mist (opposite Sigourney Weaver), and F/X.
