  • In early May, CBS canceled Broke, which stars former NCIS actress Pauley Perrette.

  • Reacting to the announcement, Pauley tweeted a special message to her fans and fellow cast members.

  • Broke's season 1 finale will be on June 4, 2020.

Though it feels like Broke is just getting started, CBS announced in May that the Pauley Perrette-led freshman series will not be renewed for season 2.

In reaction to the cancellation news, the former NCIS star offered her fans and fellow Broke cast members a warm message on Twitter.

Pauley tweeted: "About the 'limited series' #BROKE Many new episodes are airing. This show restored my faith in people, in this industry. SO GRATEFUL I worked with this cast & crew Best people I’ve EVER worked with. Healed me. Changed me. Made me whole. So Blessed."

Included in the tweet was a heartfelt video of Pauley talking about the May 7 episode of Broke called "Losing My Religion." In the clip, she called that particular episode, "the most important half-hour of television that I've ever done and the thing I am most proud of."

"We shot this last year not even knowing that this is exactly what is needed right now," Pauley explained. "I hope it touches you as much as it did me. We're just super proud that we did it and we're super proud to show it to you."

Broke is one of a handful of shows CBS decided not to renew for the fall 2020 primetime TV lineup — Tommy, Carol's Second Act, God Friended Me, and Man with a Plan will also not be coming back.

Even though it's a bummer for Pauley, it's clear that the actress has greatly enjoyed partaking in the comedy series. In fact, she claimed that the sitcom is actually her "favorite show" she's ever worked on.

"I came from comedy. They took me from comedy to be like the comic relief on that military show about murder," Pauley told USA Today, referring to her 15-season-long stint on NCIS. "That is a part of my past now."
