Last week, Brody Jenner welcomed his first child - a daughter named Honey Raye - with his fiancé, Tia Blanco. In an Instagram post, he shared that "momma and baby are in perfect health," and that the couple are "so incredibly in love and have been cherishing this precious time together as a family."

"We want to thank everyone for all the love and support," he typed, before directing fans to a new YouTube video that documented their pregnancy journey. But alongside some incredibly sweet moments, including Tia's baby shower and the moment they first met their daughter, Brody also got candid about his rocky relationship with Caitlyn Jenner. Specifically that he wants to approach parenthood "differently" from what he experienced growing up.

For some context, Brody, 39, is the youngest of Caitlyn's three children with her second wife, Linda Thompson. The former couple also share Brandon, 42, and Cassandra, 43, while Caitlyn also has Burt, 44, from her first marriage to Chrystie Scott. And of course, Kendall, 27, and Kylie, 26, who she welcomed with ex-wife, Kris Jenner.

On top of this, Caitlyn took in Kris' other four kids - Kourtney, 44, Kim, 42, Khloé, 39, and Rob, 36 - as her own when the pair wed. Thanks to the Kardashian-Jenner blended family, it means that Caitlyn also has over 20 grandchildren, with Brody and Tia's daughter being the newest addition to the ever-growing brood.

During Brody's YouTube video, he opened up about becoming a father and revealed that he didn't always "have the greatest relationship" with Caitlyn. "I think that what I’m most excited about is doing things differently than my father did," he said.

"[Caitlyn] wasn’t really around for me growing up. So I think that, just doing the exact opposite, being the absolute best father I can possibly be and getting ready for the journey, [is what I want]," he expressed.

This isn't the first time that Brody - or his other older siblings - have shared their feelings about Caitlyn's absence growing up. The Jenner kids recalled that during the 1980s up until she married Kris in 1991, she "disappeared" from their lives.

Over the years, Caitlyn has also addressed this issue, and on more than one occasion has admitted to not being there as much as she could have been for her kids. For Caitlyn, she put the absence down to her own personal struggles with her gender identity.

In a 2015 interview, she said: "The big formative years for them, I was really struggling with these issues. I talked to all the boys about this after the fact, that, yeah, I didn’t do a good job. And I apologised to my kids for that."
