Brock Osweiler gives saddest sideline speech as 20 Broncos ignore him

These are dark days in Denver. The Denver Broncos aren’t within three time zones of playoff contention, and John Elway, Peyton Manning or Tim Tebow would all be better options at quarterback than the ones they have in uniform right now. This week’s QB-of-the-moment, Brock Osweiler, threw for exactly zero touchdowns in Sunday’s 27-11 loss to Washington. In the third quarter, Osweiler tried to motivate his team with a full-throated, once-more-unto-the-breach, this-is-our-Independence-Day, they’ll-never-take-our-freedom speech.

It didn’t go so well.

Watch the video. Osweiler’s within earshot of at least 20 different Broncos as he walks along the sideline, and not one—not one—makes even the slightest acknowledgement that he’s even speaking. What are they thinking of? Their next series? Their next tee time? Who knows, but whatever they’re doing, they’re not paying attention to their quarterback.

The Broncos will finish the year with double-digit losses, only the second time that’s happened this millennium. The team started three different quarterbacks—Osweiler, Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch—and with all due respect to their talents, none of them exactly puts one in the mind of young Elway. You can blame Osweiler for not being inspiring, or you can blame the Broncos for checking out on their leader, but either way: change has to come to Denver. This cannot stand.
