Andrew Lloyd Webber will do whatever it takes to help the theater community reopen following the coronavirus pandemic, and that includes taking part in a vaccine trial. The Broadway legend shared on Instagram this week that he was participating in one such program at Oxford.

"Just completed the Oxford Covid-19 trial. I'll do anything to get theaters large and small open again and our actors and musicians back to work," he wrote in a post, which includes a picture of Webber getting a shot.

He signed the caption with his initials and the hashtag #SaveOurStages, a campaign by the National Independent Venue Association, a New York-based organization working to support the entertainment community during this difficult time.

Broadway first shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic in March, as did London's West End theaters. And in June, the Broadway League announced that all productions will remain closed until at least January 3, 2021.

Webber was vaccinated by a team of nurses and doctors, and his immune responses to the vaccine will be monitored to assess how well they are maintained over a longer period of time. This particular trial has more than 8,000 participants, and is expected to take several months.

"We are extremely grateful to all of the volunteers who are taking part in this important work to establish whether the Oxford coronavirus vaccine can protect against COVID-19," Professor Andrew Pollard, Chief Investigator of the Oxford Vaccine Trial, told Town & Country in a statement. "A safe, accessible and effective vaccine will be important in helping control the pandemic, but our rigorous testing must continue to ensure proper assessment."
