British Airways Gave This Adorable Animal a Second Chance at Life

Back in January, officials in the Maldives seized Kalo the slow loris as part of a drug raid. Since then they have been trying to find a new home for this adorable furry creature and a way to get him there.

Kalo has been living captive in limbo for the past eight months.

According to the Guardian, “Officers housed the nocturnal creature in a birdcage on Dhoonidhoo, also known as “prison island,” for eight months, feeding it baby food and bananas, while they searched the globe for a suitable new home.”

His story finally has a happy ending. British Airways just transported Kalo 5,000 miles to Monkey World, a British sanctuary southwest England.

Kalo, which means “buddy” in Maldivian will be quarantined at Monkey World for the next four months before being moved to his permanent home at the Shaldon Wildlife Trust, where he will be joined by another of his species — Doris the slow loris.
