If like us you rang in the new year binge-watching Netflix’s Bridgerton and drooling over Regé-Jean Page, there’ll be quite the Duke-shaped hole in your life now the series has come to an end. Eight episodes were really not enough.

But, the good news is we might not have to wait too long ‘til our fave hottie is back on the big screen. After Daniel Craig announced that the upcoming James Bond film No Time To Die would be his last in the series, anyone and everyone has been placing bets on who’ll take over.

Cue the Duke of Hastings, aka Simon Basset, aka the OG f*ckboy.

Following his very steamy Bridgerton success — *cough cough* that spoon scene — rumours have been swirling that Regé-Jean Page is tipped to play the iconic spy.

We wonder what Lady Whistledown would have to say about the gossip!?

Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Page addressed the rumour, sharing, “I think the internet thinks a lot of things, and that’s one of the more pleasant ones."

The actor went on to downplay the suggestion, adding that “if you’re a Brit, and you do something of any kind of renowned that people regard well, then people start saying the ‘B’ word.”

But Page still recognised the accolade, calling the rumours a “merit badge”. “I’m very glad to have the badge,” he said, “I’m glad to be in such wonderful company of people who have the badge.”

Betting site Ladbrokes is offering odds of 5/1 that Page will become the next 007, competing against other stars including Tom Hardy and Idris Elba.

So, while we might not know for sure if the Duke will take on the iconic role, in the meantime let’s keep our fingers and toes crossed for a second series of the hit show.
