Bridgerton Music Covers: Listen to Every Pop Violin Cover From the Show
The Bridgerton music covers are true works of art.
Okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration. But remember that moment, partway through the first episode, when you suddenly realized that you recognized the violin composition playing during the ball scene? And not because it was “Ode to Joy,” or some other famous classical piece?
Many viewers have expressed their surprise and delight about the fact that a violin cover of Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” was included in that moment. It was totally anachronistic to the time period, sure, but it perfectly captured the mood of searching for the perfect suitor in Regency-era London society. Much like Grande, Bridgerton season-one heroine Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) would go on to have her heart courted and broken in public—and her romances reported on by the mysterious Lady Whistledown.
Luckily, the Ariana Grande cover wasn’t just a one-off. The smash-hit Netflix series is peppered with covers of pop songs by a group called Vitamin String Quartet, reminding us that formal balls were just the clubs and house parties of the day.
“There were just a couple of the ball moments where [show creator Chris Van Dusen] wanted to have something feel modern,” composer Kris Bowers, who worked on Bridgerton, told Variety. “The Vitamin String Quartet is one of the go-to groups for that stuff. They’re from Los Angeles and are known for their tributes.”
