However, if you are a fan of crust, the two 12-inch pizzas are your best bet.
Depends on the quantity that matters to you: if you just want maximum pizza area, go for the larger size. (Doubling the radius gives quadruple the area!) But some people like the crust most (for reasons I cannot comprehend), in which case the smaller pizzas are a better option...
