Brazilian Influencer Luana Andrade Dead at 29 Following Liposuction Surgery

Brazilian influencer and reality TV personality Luana Andrade has died after undergoing liposuction surgery. She was 29.

According to local publication Globo 1's report of the tragic news, Andrade was getting a cosmetic procedure done in a São Paulo hospital earlier this week when she suffered a medical emergency that ended up taking her life.

The social media personality was approximately two and half hours into the surgery at São Luiz Hospital on Monday, Nov. 6, when she went into cardiac arrest and was taken to the ICU, where she sadly died Tuesday morning.

Following Andrade's death, the hospital released a statement obtained by Globo 1, which read, "Patient Luana Andrade was admitted, accompanied by her family, on Monday afternoon to the unit for a liposuction procedure, carried out by a private surgeon and anesthetist hired by the family,” according to a translation from People.

“After approximately two and a half hours of surgery, the patient presented with an abrupt respiratory event and went into cardiac arrest, being immediately resuscitated by the team," the statement continued. "The surgery was interrupted, and the patient underwent tests that revealed massive thrombosis. She was transferred to the ICU, where she underwent medication and hemodynamic treatment."

“Despite all the efforts of the hospital team, she progressed unfavorably and died around 5:30 a.m. today [Tuesday]," the hospital added in the statement, which concluded by confirming Andrade's cause of death as "massive pulmonary embolism."

A memorial service for Andrade was later held at the Valle dos Reis Cemetery in São Paulo on Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Andrade—who had over 563,000 followers on Instagram—is now being mourned by boyfriend João Hadad, who she starred with on the Brazilian reality show Power Couple.

"I'm torn and living my worst nightmare A piece of me is gone," Hadad wrote on Instagram in the wake of Andrade's tragic death. "It is with great regret and a lot of pain in my heart that I say goodbye to my Luana, my princess, my beautiful..."

He continued, "It's been two years by your side and I have no words to express how happy I was... We make a beautiful story and live our dreams intensely. More than a girlfriend you are and always will be a partner for life my love."

"Today, it is difficult to understand God's plans, and I do not know when and if I will ever process the absence you will make in my life and in the lives of a legion of people who loved your presence. You are my sunshine princess I ask that you continue to watch over me and all of us from above."

"I will love you always and forever!T hanks for so much, you will follow me even after the end," he concluded. "I love you, I love you, i love you..."
