Staying silent about racial inequality isn’t an option for brands anymore. As protests continue globally in the name of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Ahmad Ahrbury and the Black Lives Matter movement, some brands are speaking out and supporting the cause.
Now more than ever, people are looking for their go-to brands to show up for Black people and show solidarity. Smaller beauty brands, like Inn Beauty Project, have donated to causes like the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, George Floyd Memorial Fund and The Minnesota Freedom Fund. Other popular brand names, like Hero Cosmetics, are donating 100 percentof proceeds from its latest Mighty Patch Micropoint for Dark Spots for the week of June 1 to the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund charity.
But the support doesn’t stop with skincare. Fashion brands, like Peter Do, are spending the month of June committing 100 percent of net profits from online sales to Black-founded organizations fighting for Black equality. Plus, Ugg is donating $50,000 to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
While it's important to have brands show up for Black lives, donations aren't where the work ends. Many brands still need to work internally to truly champion Black success and equality. To support brands doing the work to uplift the Black community, check out these brands committing to the cause.
