Brandi Carlile Spoke With Meghan Markle and Prince Harry “for a Long Time” at a Surprise Event

Brandi Carlile has a lot to celebrate as of late, from her recent performance (and multiple wins!) at the 2023 Grammys to singing at the surprise vow renewal between Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi last week. About the intimate and totally star-studded ceremony—Kris Jenner quite literally officiated it lol—, the singer-songwriter even mentioned that she spoke with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Color me intrigued/jealous!

"We talked to them for a long time—like British accents, talked about the angiograms," Brandi mused to Entertainment Tonight about what it was like to meet Harry and Meghan. "They just really felt like normal, decent, good-humored people. We just had a great chat...I'm not going to pretend that I haven't seen the hubbub, I've seen the hubbub, but I haven't paid very close attention to it."

In a video shared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show's YouTube channel, you can actually spot Brandi along with Meghan, Harry, and tons of other celebs including Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Katy Perry, and Orlando Bloom. Ellen herself looks stunned in the beginning of the clip, since she thought the celebration was actually a low-key birthday party for Portia and not a vow ceremony after their 14 years of marriage together. 😭❤️

Meanwhile, Brandi also opened up about actually performing an impromptu acoustic ballad at the event, which she *also* thought was a 50th birthday party for Portia at first. "I was just an attendee and Portia was like, 'Can you just burst into the first verse of 'The First Time I Saw Your Face,' and I was like, 'Absolutely, that's what I do,'" she told Entertainment Tonight. "So in front of like these mega celebrities, I just had to go at the top of my lungs, 'The first time...' and they were looking at me like, 'Does Brandi need some attention right now?'" she playfully added.

"It was actually a beautiful thing to witness. We love them, they are our sisters," gushed Brandi, whom I personally think is relationship goals herself. Love is in the air, people!
