This Braided Bun Tutorial Made Me Forget the World Is on Fire for a Sec

From Cosmopolitan

Y’all, it’s been a week. And even though I can’t really put out the dumpster fire that is the world right now, I can give you a little distraction. This week on The Braid Up, we’re featuring a classic look that can be rocked on people of all ages. Our braiding expert, Stasha Harris, is introducing you to the cornrow bun: a stunning updo made up of a combination of cornrows and twists. Despite the fact that the look is extra cute, the best part of the video isn’t even the style—it’s the absolutely adorable model. Seriously, I dare you not to smile while watching this tutorial.

Down to recreate this style? Peep these four tips:

1. Part your hair with a rat-tail comb. It’s basically a must-have—the skinny tail allows you to part through thick hair easily so you can get razor-sharp parts with basically no effort.

2. Grab some long hair extensions. They’ll give you the length and volume needed for your bun to live its best life. Work with your stylist to find the perfect length and style for you (remember: wearing too-heavy extensions can lead to breakage).

3. Layer on a coat of mousse, then hit your hair with a blow dryer. This will set your style, making sure everything looks super sleek and smooth.

4. Throw on some beads at the end of your braids. And no, you don’t have to add pink beads and top off your look with a bow (although I wouldn’t judge you). Beads are super fun to accessorize the look—you can even switch them out with different colors if you get bored.
