Brad Pitt skipped the red carpet at the Oscars. Perhaps the 2020 Best Supporting Actor winner was trying to make a subtle entrance to the ceremony, but when he finally did show up, he sparked a frenzy nonetheless.

Pitt entered midway through the show to present the Best Supporting Actress award, which ultimately went to Yuh-Jung Youn of Minari, a film Pitt produced. He dressed in a classic ensemble—a black tux and bow tie with some light jewelry—but his hair was where things got interesting. He wore his golden locks in a teeny, tiny updo, which could either be a short ponytail or a mini low bun.

The actor was seen wearing the look out and about in February, but now he's finally given it the Oscar treatment. Whether the 'do was a callback to his Legends of the Fall look or just pandemic hair doing its thing, it sent Twitter into a spin.

Even Youn had some words for Pitt as she accepted her award (though she didn't mention the hair). "Mr. Brad Pitt, finally. Very nice to finally meet you," she said from the mic, channeling an energy we could only dream to have.

Sunday night's appearance marks Pitt's return to the awards circuit after last year's rounds with Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, in which he costarred with Leonardo DiCaprio. In his 2020 Oscars speech, Pitt dedicated his award to his kids and said, "Listen, I'm a bit gobsmacked. I'm not one to look back, but this has made me do so, and I think of my folks taking me to the drive-in to see [Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid] and loading up my car and moving out here. And Geena [Davis] and Ridley [Scott] giving me my first shot, to all the wonderful people I met along the way to stand here now.

"Once Upon a Time in Hollywood... ain't that the truth."
