After an explosive third season, fans of The Boys are anxious to see the show return. Filming on the fourth season has begun, and casting announcements are starting to trickle out. The show is one of Amazon Prime Video's most popular original programs and has a large and dedicated fanbase. Here are the top-searched questions for The Boys Season 4, but beware of spoilers for The Boys Season 3 and prior ahead.

Is there a Boys Season 4 release date?

Unfortunately, no release date has been announced for the fourth season of The Boys. Filming began towards the end of August, so the final release date still depends on how well production and post-production go. Season 3 filmed from February to September 2021, but didn't release until July 8, 2022. Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic forced many productions to alter their schedules, so it's possible that the fourth season may arrive in a shorter time frame.

Are there The Boys Season 4 spoilers?

There are rumors about what will happen in The Boys Season 4, but the production team is being tightlipped about the fourth season's plot. What is known is that the main cast will be returning, along with newcomers Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Valorie Curry and Susan Heyward in mystery roles. Also, the actor who played Black Noir will return, but will technically be playing a different character.

Who is in The Boys Season 4 cast?

The Boys Season 4 will see a lot of your favorite Boys (and men and women) returning, along with some new additions to the cast.

Antony Starr as Homelander

Antony Starr is the ultimate baddie (so far) in The Boys. After learning that Soldier Boy is his father and murdering his one-time best friend Black Noir in Season 3, it remains to be seen just how bad Homelander can really get. At times he was almost sympathetic, even while doing objectively awful things ... the key word here being "almost."

Starr explained in a 2022 interview, "The standard superhero movies that are out there, they’re bound to their moral compass. Even if Superman goes bad, you know he’s coming back to true north because that’s the model." As for Homelander, the second he seems vulnerable or good, Starr says, "you’re going to have to turn him back into a narcissistic psychopath at some point."

Karl Urban as Billy Butcher

Karl Urban will return as everyone's favorite accented anti-hero will return for Season 4. It remains to be seen what Billy Butcher's true motives are, and it will be interesting to see how V24 has affected his brain—because he cannot seem to quit it.

Urban told Men's Health that he doesn't much relate to Butcher on a personal level, but enjoys exploring the character, especially the turns he took in Season 3.

"This season was a lot of fun to play because Butcher decides to take Temp-V and get superpowers himself—and very much turn himself into the thing he's trying to destroy," he said. "That’s how obsessed he is. It was fun to be able to play in that sandbox and take the character into a new direction that way."

Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell

With possibly the most hilarious superpower set in the show, Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) has been a staple of the series from the get-go. His struggles balancing the occasional nudity with his (perhaps) temporary powers, plus the power struggles he faces in his relationship with an actual superhero, gives the character the Everyman appeal to stay relatable.

Quaid previously told Decider of his naked teleporting, “It’s so funny. It is kind of like one of those toys that you unwrap where it’s like all the Star Trek characters, and you unwrap it and it’s like a mystery what you’re going to get. Compound V is very much like, ‘I wonder what power will be mine?’ And yeah, Hughie’s is nude teleporting. It was uncomfortable at first, because it’s just like your brain is not used to being nude around a lot of people, like a whole crew of clothed people looking at you and cameras on you. So, that was an adjustment period.”

Erin Moriarty as Annie January/Starlight

Erin Moriarty is back as Annie January/Starlight for Season 4. Moriarty explained her character's morality to CinemaBlend in summer 2022.

"Annie will cross whatever line she has to, to make sure the world is a better place, to accomplish her goals, but that line won't involve hurting anyone innocent," she said. "She's pretty clear about what she will and won't do. She just wants to save people. She's not gonna hurt or kill anyone innocent. There will be no innocent casualties as long as she's around. And we see that a lot in Season 3, especially around Herogasm."

Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko Miyashiro/The Female

Fan-favorite Kimiko will be back for more action in Season 4 of The Boys. Karen Fukuhara literally broke her silence as the character in Season 3, albeit briefly, and it will be quite interesting to see where she goes from here. Who can forget the iconic musical scene with Frenchie?

She told SlashFilm of the memorable scene, "Frenchie, played by Tomer [Capone], and I had so much fun. It was kind of like summer camp, going to all the dance practices." She with a laugh, "I felt so bad: He had a lift in there! Especially during the beginning stages, he was such a gentleman and was like, 'No, it's fine, I can do it!' I'm like, 'I don't know, I've been eating a lot, sorry.' But yeah, I would like to say that it was a very good bonding experience for both of us."

Frenchie (Tomer Capone) and BFF Kimiko had a ton of moving scenes together in Season 3, and Capone's favorite scenes are probably yours, too.

"I'm not a fan of sitting and watching myself in front of the television, obviously, like a lot of actors. But if there was one thing that was really fun and cool for me to see was the action scenes. Because obviously I want to see what the prop people do, what the choreography looks like—there are amazing people who work on those special effects," he told Digital Spy. "I'm a fan. So these are the things that I'm 100% in."

"And now I've found that there's another thing I can sit on my ass and watch—and that's dancing,"he added. "I enjoyed it. So now there's two things I can do, if I want to watch myself—I can either watch myself fight or that. It's another one to add to the box."

Jessie T. Usher as A-Train

Jessie T. Usher said that A-Train's journey in Season 3 began with self-loathing, and after suffering a major loss (and coming to terms with what he did to Hughie way back when), he feels better about himself, if not his circumstances.

"He hates the position that he’s in, he hates what he’s doing, he hates the people around him. It’s just not what he thought it was going to be. Yeah, he may have made it seem like, 'I’m going to do this thing for my brother' or 'I’m going to do this because it’s right' but none of that means anything to A-Train," he told Nerdist. "Let’s be honest, he does not care what’s right or wrong. It’s what feels good. And in that moment that felt like something he needed to do to feel better. And it’s because of how badly he felt about himself up until that point."

As for where A-Train rolls from here, Usher notes, "I think now, at the end of the third season, being weak and torn down and vulnerable, he’s finally able to feel something else. I just don’t think it’s hatred."

Chace Crawford as The Deep

The Deep gets deeply weird in Season 3, and he shows zero signs of slowing down in Season 4. (We won't get too ... deep into it, save to say that aquatic life does not deserve any of this.) In fact, Chace Crawford admitted to co-star Jensen Ackles that he wasn't sure he'd work again after filming certain scenes in Season 3. If you've watched the third season, you know exactly what he is talking about.

Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk

Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk in "The Boys"

Laz Alonso will reprise his role as the obsessively clean, unendingly smart Mother's Milk. If you noticed his wardrobe in Season 3, it was meticulously chosen by the actor himself.

"I wanted Mother's Milk (MM) to really represent the culture. When I met the creator of the graphic novel, Garth Innis, he told me he wanted MM to look the meanest and physically imposing, but when he opens his mouth, he’s the most intelligent member of The Boys," Alonzo told Uptown Magazine. "Again, our show breaks stereotypes, so I wanted our version of MM to represent hip hop culture at first sight and that’s where the tee’s came in as an homage to hip hop culture. And in Season 3, I chose shirts that represent what is happening in each episode as a bonus easter egg to MM fans."

He added of the character, "He is the soul and conscience of The Boys. He’s the moral compass of the group. He also reminds the audience that we are still the good guys, because at times that line becomes blurred. I also worked very hard to highlight how great of a Black father he is. Part of the stereotype that I wanted to break with this character is that Black fathers are not present. The relationship he has with his daughter was one that Eric and I had many long talks about."

Nathan Mitchell as a New Black Noir

Nathan Mitchell attends the Amazon Studios <a href="https://parade.com/1304442/kaigreen/golden-globes-2022/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:Golden Globes;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link ">Golden Globes</a> after party at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 05, 2020, in Beverly Hills, California.<p><a href="https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/1197842071" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:Michael Tullberg/Getty Images;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link ">Michael Tullberg/Getty Images</a></p>

Nathan Mitchell played Black Noir. We all know what ended up happening to his character (and if you don't, beware of spoilers before you read on below). Mitchell will reportedly return to The Boys in Season 4, though his character isn't yet known—beyond that he'll rock the Black Noir suit.

Showrunner Eric Kripke explained to Entertainment Weekly, "It's definitely not the last we've seen of Black Noir as a hero. It's just that the guy who was inside [the Black Noir suit] in Season 3, he's gone. But we have Nathan playing a really interesting and hilarious character who wears the suit next season ... We'll explore it as the season goes on, but Nathan plays a whole new character."

Dominique McElligott as Maggie Shaw/Queen Maeve

Queen Maeve had a really rough go in Season 3, and Dominique McElligott sold her struggle—with power, with Homelander, with addiction—exceedingly well. Though her story so far has been a tragic one, it's one that you cannot stop watching.

Claudia Doumit as Victoria Neuman

Claudia Doumit will likely be back as Victoria Neuman in an even more powerful political position than she was in Season 3. This time, though, she won't have Hughie in her corner, and because he knows her secret, things are likely going to get quite complicated moving forward.

Giancarlo Esposito as Stan Edgar

Though his character is in custody, we're pulling to see more of Giancarlo Esposito in The Boys Season 4. No one does cool, calm, collected and calculating better, making Stan Edgar a charismatic addition to every scene.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan in a mystery role

Jeffrey Dean Morgan attends <a href="https://parade.com/1093130/faye-mccray/the-walking-dead-season-11/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:The Walking Dead;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link ">The Walking Dead</a> Panel at Comic-Con 2019 on July 19, 2019, in San Diego, California.<p><a href="https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/1163197186" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:Jesse Grant/Getty Images;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link ">Jesse Grant/Getty Images</a></p>

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who previously worked with Kripke and Ackles in Supernatural, will reportedly have a mystery role in The Boys Season 4. Not much is known about Morgan's role beyond that it's a recurring one (and that we can't wait to see him in it).

Valorie Curry as Firecracker

Valorie Curry will star as Firecracker in Season 4. Not much is known about the character because she wasn't in the comics, making this an entirely original development for the show.

Susan Heyward as Sister Sage

Susan Heyward attends the Broadway opening day cast press reception for "<a href="https://parade.com/955587/kelseypelzer/harry-potter-quotes/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:Harry Potter;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link ">Harry Potter</a> and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two" at The Lyric Theatre on <a href="https://parade.com/1360954/jessicasager/april-holidays-observances/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:April;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link ">April</a> 22, 2018, in New York City.<p><a href="https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/950178094" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" data-ylk="slk:Walter McBride/Getty Images;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" class="link ">Walter McBride/Getty Images</a></p>

Like Firecracker, Sister Sage is an original character for The Boys TV adaptation and isn't in the comics. Susan Heyward will play the new addition.

Cameron Crovetti as Ryan

Cameron Crovetti, who plays Homelander's son Ryan, will not only return for The Boys Season 4—he's been upgraded to a series regular this time around.

As for what's in store for the young supe in Season 4 and beyond, Kripke told TV Line, “If Ryan turns into another little sociopathic Homelander, that’s apocalyptic. But on the other hand, if Butcher’s able to pull him away from that, then you might have the only person who can actually fight Homelander.”

Is there a The Boys Season 4 trailer?

There's no trailer yet for The Boys Season 4, but watch this space. Seeing as the show is currently in production, there may be a trailer dropping as soon as Winter 2023.

How many episodes are in The Boys Season 4?

No episode count has been released so far for The Boys Season 4. However, previous seasons of the show have had eight episodes each, so Season 4 will most likely follow suit.

How many seasons of The Boys will there be?

Back in 2020, showrunner Eric Kripke said that he has plans for the show to run at least five seasons. While Season 5 hasn't officially been announced yet, the show is consistently one Amazon Prime Video's most popular original offerings, so it's likely there will be a fifth season. Several spin-offs have been announced, so it's possible The Boys could continue to a sixth or seventh season.

Is Homelander in Season 4?

Antony Starr will return as Homelander for season four of The Boys. The actor confirmed that filming had begun for the fourth season on Twitter with a post that included a photo of the superhero group The Seven from the first season. Also, the fourth season ended with some major developments for Homelander, so it's likely that he'll continue to be a major character.

What is Black Noir's identity?

The third season revealed Black Noir's backstory. He was a hero named Earving who fought alongside Soldier Boy, before turning on the patriotic-themed hero. After a devastating beating from Soldier Boy, Black Noir was left mute and disfigured. Homelander murdered Noir in the final episode of the season. It's rumored that a new character will take up the mantle of Black Noir in the fourth season, however.

Who kills Black Noir?

Homelander murdered Black Noir after finding out that Noir had betrayed Soldier Boy in Vietnam. Noir not only knew that Soldier Boy was still alive, he was also aware that Soldier Boy was Homelander's father. Homelander considered Noir to be one of his closest allies and mourned the loss of his friend (even though was the one that killed him).

What is Homelander's kryptonite?

Homelander doesn't seem to have any specific physical weaknesses, although Soldier Boy's explosions would likely have removed Homelander's powers (as they did with other supes). Homelander's main weakness, however, is his desire to be loved at all costs. While he doesn't necessarily love anybody, he demands that everyone love and respect him.

Where will The Boys season 4 stream?

The Boys Season 4 will stream on Amazon Prime Video. The show first premiered in July 2019 and has since become one of the platform's most successful original programs. Due to this, Amazon has announced several spin-off shows, and it's likely that The Boys will remain on Amazon Prime exclusively for the foreseeable future.

Is Homelander immortal?

This is unclear. Homelander is seemingly invincible to most conventional weapons and would only be able to be killed if his powers were removed. That being said, it's unknown if he ages or not, as the character is only about 41 years old in the show's timeline. His father, Soldier Boy, doesn't age, so it's possible that Homelander won't age any further than he already has.

Is Billy Butcher a villain?

As one of the show's main characters, Billy Butcher isn't a traditional good guy. While he does fight against the immoral and evil supes character, he himself has made many questionable decisions. It's purposely unclear if Butcher has noble intentions or if he's just a madman obsessed with revenge. While he has lied to his friends and put them in danger, he's also gone out of his way to protect them, making his true nature a bit hard to pin down. He would consider himself neither a good guy or a bad guy, instead choosing to refer to himself by a four letter word that can't be printed here.
