Bittersweet news coming in hot: The Bold Type is officially returning for season 5. But sadly, it'll be the last chapter for Jane Sloan (Katie Stevens), Kat Edison (Aisha Dee), Sutton Brady-Hunter (Meghann Fahy) and the rest of the crew.

When will The Bold Type season 5 premiere?
Season 5 of The Bold Type is premiering on Wednesday, May 26 at 10 p.m. ET on Freeform. Unlike past seasons, the fifth and final installment will only have six episodes. Viewers will see Jane, Kat and Sutton “on the brink of defining who they really are and how best to leave their mark on the world,” according to the official synopsis.
Ahead of the show's return, the network released the official trailer for season 5 of The Bold Type. Fans get a glimpse of what's to come for the entire squad and it looks like it's going to be a whirlwind of emotions.
In January, Freeform announced the ending of the dramedy on social media with a video of the cast at their first table reading. “We’re so, so excited to be back and we can’t wait to get going,” said showrunner and executive producer Wendy Straker Hauser on the Zoom call.

Are there any spoilers for The Bold Type season 5?
The fourth season of The Bold Type ended in summer 2020 and it left viewers wanting more. Like other shows impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, the dramedy’s season 4 was forced to shutdown production and rethink its two-part season finale. Luckily, season 5 will pick up right where we left off.
After season 4 wrapped up in July, Wendy spoke with TVLine about what fans could expect, and it sounds like there’s a lot to look forward to. As folks know, Sutton and Richard began experiencing trouble in their marriage shortly after exchanging vows. The Scarlet stylist revealed that she didn’t want to have kids after having a miscarriage and was devastated when Richard walked out on her.
“I feel that Richard and Sutton have much more to explore. They both need to explore themselves first, though,” Wendy told the outlet. “They’ve been such an amazing, supportive couple, and Richard has been very accommodating in the past … They haven’t hit real, huge roadblocks before … I certainly don’t think the door is closed forever. But we’ll all discuss it in season 5.”
Actress Meghann recently elaborated to Good Morning America that fans can look forward to seeing the two "sort of watch them work it out, hopefully." She also shared in another interview with ABC that her character will go to therapy to begin processing events.
As for Jane, she’ll continue learning what it means to run her own vertical and the issues that may come with it, like keeping her personal and work life separate.
“There was that complication of, ‘What do you do when you connect with someone you work with, genuinely, but you’re also in a position of authority?’ and it’s a new job for her. So, we were going to see that [play] out more. Her arc got cut short in that way,” Wendy explained. “At the same time, she was gaining more traction with Scarlet, and Jacqueline letting her know that she’s the future of Scarlet. So those were interesting things that she was going to juggle. We’ll still explore those things.”
