From Town & Country

We all know the power of the Meghan Markle effect- she can sell out a dress in an instant. But can she also revive a trend? She's giving us very good reasons to consider.

The most standout feature of Meghan Markle's custom Givenchy wedding gown was its bateau neckline-a more conservative look compared to Kate Middleton's lacey, deep-V neckline. This style is known to be very classic and reminiscent of actress Audrey Hepburn, muse to Hubert de Givenchy who popularized this particular neckline. While the neckline has always been popular in the bridal market, it seems to be transitioning to ready-to-wear.

Even before becoming a royal, Markle had worn this particular style during an official royal engagement with Prince Harry- but since her big day, the Duchess of Sussex is officially championing the resurgence of this timeless silhouette. As a style icon in the making, it seems she will make this her signature look.

Just this week the Duchess has been on a three-day streak with this silhouette. This week, the Duchess was spotted during her tour of Ireland with her husband in an olive bateau-neck dress by Roland Mouret. For the RAF100 event that she attended with the royal family on Tuesday, she gave us another Audrey Hepburn moment in a little black dress by Dior that featured, you guessed it, a boatneck neckline. And on Monday for the christening of her newest nephew Prince Louis, Markle rocked the same silhouette, this time by Ralph Lauren.

All with the help of her best friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney, the Duchess has clearly found a style that works for her, and is helping her to stand out amongst her fellow royals.
