The Toronto Blue Jays officially signed star pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu to a four-year contract worth $80 million on Friday.

Ryu finished second in National League Cy Young Award voting last season, after a standout season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, placing behind winner Jacob deGrom.

The signing was initially reported on Dec. 22.

Ryu will feature as the Blue Jays’ ace, joining Tanner Roark and Chase Anderson as the team’s new pitching acquisitions.

It is the third-largest contract signed in franchise history and Ryu will be tasked with helping a young Blue Jays team turn the corner, with their young offensive trio of Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette and Cavan Biggio featuring as the core components of the franchise.
