Blue Ivy Carter Is Only Eight Years Old, and She's Already Getting Major Awards
Blue Ivy Carter turned eight years old in January, and she's really giving other second graders a run for their money as far as life achievements go. On Saturday, she won an award at the NAACP Awards in Pasadena, California, in the category of Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration. She collaborated with her mom, Beyoncé, SAINt JHN, and WizKiD on the song "Brown Girl" for the album The Lion King: The Gift.
The Gift is inspired by the latest Lion King movie, in which Beyoncé voiced the character Nala. Blue Ivy's parents were, no doubt, proud of her for taking home this honor, but her grandma Tina Lawson also took a moment to share her congratulations for her talented granddaughter. She added that Blue is the youngest artist to win a major award; she was also the youngest female artist to make the Hot 100 singles chart.
"Congratulations BLUE IVY on your NAACP award last night for singing and writing on 'Brown Skin Girl' from the Album The Gift. 👏🏾👏🏾The youngest artist to win a major award👏🏾👏🏾Grandma is soo proud of you❤️❤️❤️ 8 years old!!!!🙏🏾❤️ You are giving all the beautiful little brown girls a voice ❤️," she said.

Last fall, Blue Ivy also won a song-writing award for song,"Brown Skin Girl," at the BET Soul Train Awards. Although this was not a solo project, Blue Ivy seems to be the kind of person who will have a lot of success in the music industry (considering her DNA, among other things).
"She is very sassy, high energy and knows what she wants,” a source told People last July. "Especially after the twins [two-year-olds Sir and Rumi] were born, Beyoncé made sure that Blue was able to embrace her new role as a big sister. She also lets her go to video shoots, award shows and music recording. They have a very special bond!"
