At the tender age of nine, Blue Ivy Carter, the daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, can now call herself a Grammy winner. During the pre-show telecast for the 2021 ceremony, Carter earned the Best Music Video award, which she shares with her mother for "Brown Skin Girl."

Blue is now the second-youngest Grammy winner in history, according to Associated Press. Bey is also inching toward Grammy history, with a chance at becoming the artist with the most Grammy awards ever. Other artists nominated in the music video category were Future and Drake, Anderson .Paak, Harry Styles, and Woodkid.

The "Brown Skin Girl" visuals premiered as part of Beyoncé's visual album, Black Is King, which debuted on Disney+ last summer. A celebration of Black women and girls, the video, directed by Jenn Nkiru, featured a debutante theme and included stars like Naomi Campbell, Adut Akech, Lupita Nyong'o, and Kelly Rowland. Blue also joins Beyoncé in the video, with her grandmother Tina Knowles-Lawson and younger sister, Rumi Carter. She takes a solo at the end of the track.

"It was so important to me in 'Brown Skin Girl' that we represented all different shades of Brown, and I wanted every character to be shot in a regal light," Beyoncé previously told Good Morning America of the inspiration behind the video.

"It was important that we're all in this together and we all are celebrating each other," she added. "Brown Skin Girl" is part of Beyoncé's The Lion King: The Gift album, which she released in 2019 comprising of music inspired by the Lion King remake.

Blue has been scooping up awards left and right for her contributions to "Brown Skin Girl," including an NAACP Image Award, BET HER Award, and Soul Train Award.
