Blake Shelton Fans Are 'Disappointed' After Adam Levine Says ‘It’s About Time’ The Singer Left ‘The Voice’

While many of Blake Shelton‘s fans are upset over the longtime coach’s upcoming departure from The Voice, his former co-star Adam Levine doesn’t seem too upset about it.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight this week, the Maroon 5 frontman said he thought it was “about time” that Shelton, 46, (who served as a coach for 23 seasons) left the musical competition show. While some fans on Twitter stressed that Levine, 44, was just joking, others expressed their “disappointment” with his comments.

Adam Levine Jokes That It’s The Right Time For Blake Shelton To Leave The Voice

Outside of the Vanity Fair Oscars Party last weekend, Levine was asked about his thoughts regarding Shelton leaving the show, and he replied that he thought it was the right time.

Shelton announced his Voice exit back in October 2022, when the country singer wrote in a statement for his fans, “I’ve been wrestling with this for a while and I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from ‘The Voice’ after season 23. This show has changed my life in every way for the better and it will always feel like home to me.”

The “God’s Country” crooner went on, “it’s been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew and catering people, you are the best. It takes a lot of work, passion, and adult beverages (Ha!) to pull off a live show twice a week.”

Naturally, many of Shelton’s fans have been bummed since the news broke, as the musician has garnered a reputation as a beloved and comical coach on the show.

Others, however, were more annoyed at his comments, and took to Twitter to air their grievances (some bringing up how Levine “isn’t as loved” as he used to be among former Voice coaches after his rumored Fall 2022 cheating scandal).

“He exited the show himself in rude fashion, I don’t think he has room to talk much,” one user tweeted in response to Levine’s comment about Shelton as another added, “Comin from someone who basically threw a person on his team under the bus.”

Someone else chimed in, taking a more positive stance, “I’m sad that now they will both be gone–Regardless of how well they got along in real life—They were the best thing on– The Voice!!”
