  • Blake Shelton and Adam Levine exchanged a few choice words on social media last week as their latest hit songs competed for the No. 1 spot on iTunes.

  • At one point, Gwen Stefani jumped in to say, "@AdamLevine leave my boyfriend @blakshelton alone."

Blake Shelton and Adam Levine are still the best of frenemies!

Fans of The Voice will recall how the country star and the Maroon 5 frontman loved to bicker and banter when they overlapped as coaches on the singing competition show. Well, the two stars hit refresh on their rivalry last week as their latest songs competed for the No. 1 spot on iTunes.

Blake's new duet with girlfriend Gwen Stefani, "Happy Anywhere," shot to the coveted top spot after its release on Friday. But The Voice star was apparently disappointed to find Maroon 5's "Nobody's Love" hot on his heels.

"My god Adam....you are still a pain in my a--!!!! Go away idiot!!!!" Blake tweeted alongside a screenshot of the iTunes chart.

Never one to be out-insulted, Adam fired back at Blake on his Instagram Story, writing, "Eat s--t cowboy! I'm comin' for ya!"

Yikes! Even though their strong words seemed to be all in good fun, Gwen couldn't resist swooping in to defend her man.

"@AdamLevine leave my boyfriend @blakshelton alone," she joked on her Instagram Story.

"I will never leave him alone. He was my boyfriend first," Adam shot back.

Blake took things to the next level when he shared what appeared to be a fake tweet from Adam's wife, supermodel Behati Prinsloo.

"Wow... Looks like some of @Beeprinsloo old tweets are resurfacing... I hope this doesn’t affect their personal lives.. @adamlevine #teamblake," Blake wrote to introduce the photoshopped tweet, which read: "Wow... I hate to say it but Blake is way better at this show than my husband."

But it was Adam who had the last word. The singer took a screenshot of Blake’s tweet and posted it on his Instagram Story, writing, “When your grandpa discovers he can make fake tweets...”

These two will clearly do anything for a laugh. And we have to admit, we needed this one today!
