Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are obviously two of the most successful Hollywood actors, but there’s nothing we like to watch them do more than roast each other on Instagram. You know what they say, the couple who troll each-other, stay together…or something like that.

Considering the pair have been married since 2012 and are raising three daughters, we’d say there are no hard feelings. Here, a timeline of their most immaculate, hilarious trolls.

March 2015: Lively posts this side-by-side comparison of a Deadpool ad and a throwback Burt Reynolds photo shoot. “Now for this week’s WHO WORE IT BETTER... Reynolds vs Reynolds I vote for a reshoot: wearing only the mask,” Lively captioned the photo. We agree. Deadpool really needs to let his freak flag fly.

April 2015: Reynolds and Helen Mirren pose for a sweet photo on the red carpet, and Lively jokes, “Should I be concerned that my husband’s never looked at me this way?”

June 2016: Lively releases her most iconic movie to date: The Shallows, a shark movie in which she spends 98% of her screen time on some rock. Reynolds commemorates this achievement by memeing one of the film’s TV spots. “Actual footage from the first date with my wife. Tried to surprise her and totally forgot I was a fucking shark,” he tweeted.

August 2016: When a fan asked Reynolds what Lively thinks about all the inappropriate questions he gets about Deadpool, he said he’s pretty sure Lively writes them herself. A perfect joke.

April 2017: Reynolds is honored at the Time 100 gala, so Lively decides to post a photo of him to Instagram but make her caption about John Legend, who was also honored and in the background of the pic. This kicked off Reynolds and Lively’s specialty brand of photo trolling.

August 2017: A prime example of that genre: This photo of Reynolds and a severely cropped-out Lively that he posted for her birthday.

October 2017: But Lively got him back…by posting a photo of Ryan Gosling for Reynolds’s birthday.

October 2017: Okay, so in this scenario, Lively basically used Reynolds to troll herself. If you’ll recall, everyone was living for Lively’s multiple outfit changes during her All I See Is You press tour. She nodded at the pandemonium by joking that Reynolds, as great as he looked at the premiere, had no outfit changes.

November 2017: Then he made this incredibly-rude-but-all-in-good-fun jab about Lively’s on-set look for The Rhythm Section. To be honest, though, Lively is working that bright-blue beanie.

December 2017: But don’t worry: Lively wasn’t sweating the shade. She retaliated a month later by knocking Reynolds’s cookie-baking skills.

February 2018: To celebrate Valentine’s Day, the couple jested back and forth about how they were on different dating apps—ya know, as couples do.

February 2018: The V-Day shenanigans continued with this “glue” cake Reynolds made for Lively. It looks delicious.

April 2018: Two months later Lively decided to praise the back of her head in a photo with Reynolds at the center. I’d 10/10 do the same if my braid looked this good.

May 2018: The trailer for Lively’s new film A Simple Favor drops. It’s confusing, so Reynolds tweets Lively and asks what the hell’s going on. Instead of giving an answer, she trolls, naturally.

May 2018: “Is the extra distance between you supposed to convince me that you DON’T love him more than me?? Nice try,” Lively commented on this photo of Hugh Jackman and Reynolds. What Lively doesn’t know is Jackman and Reynolds have the space between them so I can pop in the middle.

June 2018: In perhaps their funniest case of trolling yet, Lively and Reynolds have a back-and-forth about his fictional twin brother, Gordon. I want a husband to be witty with on Instagram! Until that time comes, though, at least I have these two.

June 2018: Lively calls her Simple Favor costar Anna Kendrick the “hotter, female®” version of her husband and jokes about cheating on him. Reynolds replies in good, hilarious spirits.

August 2019: In honor of Lively’s birthday, Reynolds pulled off a master troll by posting a series of unflattering photos of the b-day girl. “Happy Birthday, @blakelively,” he wrote alongside images that show her blinking, making funny faces, and looking generally unprepared.

September 2019: Lively strikes back by sharing a hilarious screenshot from her Instagram photo app of Reynolds in a goofy-looking hat shaped like a chicken. Her image appears next to it, looking grave and unamused. She published it on her Instagram Stories.

October 2019: Lively posted this lovingly troll-y pic for Reynolds’s birthday. (He turned 43 on October 23.)

April 2020: If you thought a quarantine would stop this couple from poking fun at each other, you would be very mistaken. Lively showed off Reynolds’s tiny ponytail on Instagram Stories, writing, “I dare you to forget this every time you see him for the rest of eternity.”

July 2020: No, Blake Lively isn’t pregnant; her husband is just hot. On July 22, Reynolds took to Instagram to celebrate Hulu’s release of his 2010 thriller Buried…and his Aviation Gin line. In a comment of the sexy scene from the movie, Lively wrote, “I think this just got me pregnant.”

“I will be out of the office starting July 22nd through the middle of ever and ever,” her husband replied. “If you need immediate assistance during my absence, please contact someone. Anyone. Otherwise I will respond to your message as soon as possible upon my unlikely return. Thank you.”

August 2020: Ryan Reynolds had a very Ryan Reynolds–y response to the news that beverage company Diageo is acquiring his Aviation Gin brand as part of a $610 million deal—which, according to a press release, “includes an initial payment of $335 million and a further potential consideration of up to $275 million based on the performance of Aviation American Gin over a 10-year period.”

People reports he set up a very cheeky out-of-office message, which included an “apology” to Lively.

“Thanks for your email. I am currently out of the office but will still be very hard at work selling Aviation Gin. For quite a long time, it seems,” the OOO message read. “In related news, I just learned what an ‘earn out’ is... And I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to everyone I told to go f— themselves in the last 24 hours. My lawyers just explained how long it takes to achieve an ‘earn out’... so... turns out I’m not as George Clooney as I thought.

“The point is, to those listed below, I’m sorry... and I’ll indeed be needing your help in the coming months and years. Thanks in advance!” he continued, before listing out who he is apologizing to. “Mom, Blake, Peter, Diageo CEO, The Rock, George Clooney, Southern Glazer’s, Betty White, TGI Friday’s, Baxter, Calisthenics, AMC Theaters, Total Wine, The Number 8, Don Saladino, Darden, The Head of Alfredo Garcia, Soothing Lavender Eye Pillows.”

September 2020: On September 11, Reynolds posted a birthday tribute to his dog, Bax. It was cute and funny, as per usual.

“This is almost as sweet as the birthday post you did for me this year,” Lively wrote in the comments. The gag? He didn’t post a birthday tribute to his wife this year.

October 2020: On October 22, the couple took their trolling to new heights after Lively shared a photo of her and her famously Canadian husband after he lost his U.S. voting virginity. She wrote, “It was Ryan’s first time. He was understandably scared. It all happened so fast. Like, REALLY fast. He wept. I pretended to weep. Then he called all his friend. #voteearly.”

But though the caption was classic Lively-Reynolds banter, fans couldn’t help but notice that her feet in the picture appeared to be photoshopped with drawn-on sandals. Reynolds then exposed his wife’s impressive editing skills by posting the original photo to his own feed.

One day later, Lively wrote that she “can’t believe” she’s still married to the Deadpool actor while wishing her husband a happy birthday on Instagram. She also trolled Reynolds for choosing to blow out his 44 candles on a birthday pie instead of a cake.

“1) Who is the lost soul that selects birthday PIE. 2) What ANIMAL eats their cake (pie) without first blowing out the candles. @vancityreynolds that’s who,” Lively captioned the photo. “Happy Birthday. I honestly can’t believe we’re still married.”

December 2020: Lively has four favorite things from Vancouver—and Reynolds is apparently NOT one of them. On December 12, the actor posted an Instagram story revealing her four favorite things from her husband’s hometown, starting with pie, ice cream, and doughnuts from local shops.

In a second post, she shared the fourth item, a series of pastries and desserts from Ask for Luigi, per People. “Who did you think I was gonna say?” Lively wrote alongside a Deadpool GIF.

Your move, Reynolds.

March 2021: Reynolds watched Green Lantern for the first time and live-tweeted it. Of course, he was sure to troll Lively in the process:

For context: Lively and Reynolds first met filming Green Lantern.

April 2021: After Reynolds received his COVID-19 vaccine, he attempted to troll his wife (as usual), but she wasn’t having it. “Who wore it better,” he recently asked in an Instagram Stories poll, comparing his vaccine ’fit (a hot pink beanie, black mask, and white T-shirt) to a photo of Lively in her movie The Rhythm Section, where she’s seen wearing a similar blue beanie.

Almost immediately, per People, Lively shared the poll to her own Stories, adding, “My husband tryin’ to troll me, while he’s lookin’ like a Bernie meme and Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou had a hot ass offspring. Good luck with this one @vancityreynolds.”

April 23, 2021: Blake Lively thinks she would make a “much better couple” with Gigi Hadid, at least according to her birthday tribute to the supermodel. “Happy birthday @gigihadid,” Lively wrote alongside a picture with Reynolds and Hadid. “I think you and I make a much better couple.”

“Too bad you’re just super hot and no fun at all,” she joked in a second post that featured Hadid dancing at a concert.

April 26, 2021: Reynolds is joining the legions of parents going insane over the baby shark song. However, unlike most moms and dads out there, the actor has a wife who has starred in a shark-themed thriller. “My one-year-old daughter is obsessed with Baby Shark. All day. Every day. There’s only one way to fix this,” he wrote on Instagram alongside photos of Lively in her 2016 film, The Shallows. The photos in question:

"She's gonna love Savages," Lively responded in the comments, referencing another one of her less-than-kid-friendly films. Then, on Instagram Stories, the mom of three joked, "Well at least they'll have ample content for therapy."
