Blackhawks rookie Dominik Kubalik swats home absurd goal
In another life, Chicago Blackhawks forward Dominik Kubalik would be an excellent baseball player, even if he’s got this hockey thing figured out quite well.
Kubalik has been one of the most surprising developments of the NHL season, and the 24-year-old scored his rookie-leading 20th goal in style against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
He wouldn’t look out of place at Wrigley Field, batting a backhand saucer pass from Jonathan Toews out of the air for a sensational goal.

Toews’ reaction to the finish says it all. For a player nicknamed “Captain Serious” earlier in his career, No. 19 couldn’t be more elated for his linemate.
Kubalik was selected in the seventh round of the 2013 NHL Draft by the Los Angeles Kings and was a relative unknown coming into the season. Lighting up Frederik Andersen and the Toronto Maple Leafs on Hockey Night in Canada is one way to ascend to semi-stardom.
Chicago signed Kubalik to a one-year contract worth $925,000 in May. Unless Kubalik’s agent is truly negligent, he’s in for a massive pay day.
