I’m a sucker for all glassware and colorful collectibles for your home. So when I came across Estelle Colored Glass on my Instagram feed, I knew someday I’d need a collection of the company’s hand-blown wine glasses or gorgeous cake stands — ones that would make any Southerner swoon.

But little did I know this Black-owned brand had a heart-whelming story behind its origin. This gem-toned glassware that's best described as "jewels for your table" is actually the passion project of Stephanie Summerson Hall.

Inspired by going on weekly antique adventures in South Carolina with her grandmother Estelle in the summer, Stephanie would be amazed by her finds — especially her grandmother's colored glass collection.

But Estelle didn’t keep her collection tucked away. Known as an amazing cook, she would make big Sunday dinners and use the pieces each week, with her signature vanilla pound cake always on display on a beautiful colored cake stand, of course.

In 2019 after five years of research and design, Stephanie made her grandmother's orignal passion into her own modern business.

Among the current collection, you’ll find an assortment of blush pink, lavender, rose, green, royal blue and more colored cake stands, stemmed wine glasses, coupe champagne glasses, stemless wine glasses and more.

"Under my grandmother's tutelage, I learned my first fundamental cooking techniques all the while spending invaluable time side by side with her in the kitchen and accompanying her on shopping trips," Stephanie said on her website. "Most of all, I am indebted to her for teaching me the gift of being a fine hostess."

Made in Poland by glass artisans whose history goes 100 years back, the glassware is a touch of modern meets vintage. If you’ve ever been to an antique store, you’ll know about the charming glassware that was a household staple in that dates back as early as the 1930s.

Below, we rounded up some of our favorite pieces to keep your eye on and shop the next time you need special glassware, whether it’s a gift for yourself or someone else.
