‘Black Mirror: Bandersnatch’ Snags the Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie

Sure, we’re suckers for movie theater popcorn, but there’s something special about watching a film from the comfort of our own couch, like any of these TV flicks.

Today, the 71st annual Emmy Awards took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. During the ceremony, the Black Mirror: Bandersnatch creators walked away with the statuette for Outstanding Television Movie.

Other nominees included Brexit, Deadwood: The Movie, King Lear and My Dinner with Herve.

Black Mirror: Bandersnatch comes courtesy of Netflix and gained popularity as the first choose your own adventure movie ever. It stars Will Poulter, Fionn Whitehead, Asim Chaudhry, Craig Parkinson, Alice Lowe, Tallulah Rose Haddon and Laura Evelyn.

The Outstanding Television Movie category has been around since 1992, though it was originally called Outstanding Drama or Comedy Special. Previous winners include “USS Callister” (Black Mirror), Black Mirror: San Junipero, Sherlock: The Abominable Bride, Bessie, The Normal Heart, Behind the Candelabra, Game Change, Downton Abbey and Temple Grandin.

BRB, watching all the nominated flicks.
