As one of the co-chairs for this year's Met Gala, pop star and Gen-Z fashion icon Billie Eilish knew she had to turn out — especially since it's also her first time attending fashion's biggest event. This year's theme is "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion," which pays homage to classic American culture and fashion over the years.

According to Billie, her poofy neutral-colored gown was inspired by the iconic Holiday collection Barbie dolls. Her platinum blonde tresses sat in a wavy old-Hollywood-inspired bob, and, of course, her makeup looks flawless as ever with a subtle smoked-out wing.

Her makeup artist for the evening, Rob Rumsey, sat down with Seventeen and dished all the details about her look. Ahead, find Rob's can't-skip application techniques, favorite makeup products, and, of course, how it felt to get America's favorite "bad guy" glam for the Met Gala.

According to Rob, the old Hollywood-meets-rockstar look took about an hour for him to complete. "I always start with eyes when they're a little dramatic," he explained. To achieve Billie's soft and sultry look, Rob used the Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Eye Palettes in The Golden Goddess and The Sophisticate to sculpt the shape of her eyes.

When it comes to that smoked-out liner, Rob applied Charlotte Tilbury's Rock N Kohl eyeliner in bedroom black, to draw a wing and smudge it out. Before moving on to complexion products, Rob shared that a "can't skip" step in his process is to exfoliate the client's lips and apply moisturizer. Skin prep makes for a smooth, blank canvas, which helps a lot in the long run.

"For skin, I buffed a light foundation on with a tiny bit of concealer where needed. I swiped a bit of Blush in Pillow Talk on the apples of her cheek then filled her gorgeous lips in with Iconic Nude Lip Liner and dabbed a little Runway Royalty in the center," he dished. "To finish, I dusted the skin with the new Supernudes Face Palette in Nudegasm to give dimension and glow."

Although Billie has already made herself a household name in pop culture, this is her fitst-ever Met Gala (plus, she's a co-chair, too). Rob said he felt a lot of pressure to glam Billie up for fashion's biggest night, but I think we can all agree he turned out an incredibly glamorous look.

The best part? You can snag the exact products Rob used on Billie at Sephora, and if that's not proof that dreams really do come true, I don't know what is.
