From ELLE

Last night, Billie Eilish dropped the new James Bond film's theme song, "No Time to Die," that she and Finneas wrote for the film.

In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music this week, Eilish teased that lyrically, it's inspired by the film's plot. There's plenty of evidence in the lyrics that Bond faces a betrayal from someone he loves, so. (Genius users speculate that someone is his love interest, Dr. Madeleine Swann, played by Léa Seydoux.)

The brother-sister music duo got to see the script to create it, Eilish confirmed. "They told us about the plot, they showed it to us, and we wrote to it," she started. "This was actually really helpful to get a piece of the script and it was only, like, the beginning part, like, you know how all the Bond movies start with, like, a scene—it was more collaborative than you'd think actually—which I was surprised by because I thought it would just be like, here's the song, and they take it and...then I would have no say, but they actually were completely, they really wanted to know what I think."

"The day after my birthday, we flew to London for a week, and we worked with Hans and the entire orchestra, they recorded all of the orchestra when we went there," Eilish continued. "For, like, a month-ish, like, half a month maybe, we-we were just kinda going back and forth to their team and us about, like, just getting it right and getting it right and getting it right and it went through a lot of different versions and then we got it, like, we all worked really hard, Hans was incredibly—like, easy to work with and he's so funny and, like, it was a really good, collaborative experience."

Here, the song to listen to and the lyrics via Genius. Vague spoilers ahead, 007 fans:

Verse 1:
I should have known
I'd leave alone
Just goes to show
That the blood you bleed is just the blood you owe
We were a pair
But I saw you there
Too much to bear
You were my life, but life is far away from fair
Was I stupid to love you?
Was I reckless to help?
Was it obvious to everybody else?

Chorus:

That I'd fallen for a lie
You were never on my side
Fool me once, fool me twice
Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die

Verse 2:

I let it burn
You're no longer my concern, mmm
Faces from my past return
Another lesson yet to learn

Chorus:

That I'd fallen for a lie
You were never on my side
Fool me once, fool me twice
Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die

Refrain:

No time to die, mmm
No time to die, ooh

Outro:

Fool me once, fool me twice
Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die
