A new Billie Eilish era is here and it’s full of sleepovers, pillow fights, and Kim Kardashian-designed loungewear. After a handful of days spent teasing a new cut on social, Eilish dropped “Lost Cause” on Wednesday. The woozy kiss-off, pillowed by a jazzy arrangement and lined with reverb-soaked acoustic guitar, marks the fourth share from her upcoming Happier Than Ever LP, due out July 30. She co-wrote the song with her brother, Finneas.

“I know you think you’re such an outlaw,” she speak-sings at one point (you could easily convince me this is a direct call back to the “bad guy” subject material from her undeniable 2019 debut, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, by the way) “but you got no job.” There's something phenomenally meta about a breezy delivery in a take-down on an ex's own apathy.

But if Eilish's song is spent meditating on why her former flame wasn't worth it, the video she dropped alongside the track bears witness to how much more fun she's having now. The 19-year-old directed the clip which features a feel-good, girl gang doing, well, what teenage girls do post-heartache: having fun.

Eilish has previously shared "My Future," "Your Power," and "Therefore I Am" off the upcoming collection. She announced the album via a bombshell British Vogue photoshoot. She has also plotted a world tour in support, kicking off in September. A full list of dates are available on her website.
