Ted Lasso fans might be feeling emotional — and it’s not just because yet another season of the beloved Apple TV+ show has come and gone in a blink of an eye.

Now, here we are, post-season three finale, and fans everywhere are wondering about what will happen next with Ted, Roy, Keeley, Rebecca, Coach and the rest of the AFC Richmond crew.

Will there be a season 4 of Ted Lasso?

Unfortunately, no.

Back in March 2023, lead actor Jason Sudeikis sat down with Deadline to discuss the series, and its future ahead of the season 3 premiere. Even back then Jason was set on season 3 being the end of the road from Ted and the gang. "

The fact that folks will want more and are curious beyond more than what they don’t even know yet — that being season 3— it’s flattering. Maybe by May 31, once all 12 episodes of the season [have been released], they’re like, ‘Man, you know what, we get it, we’re fine. We don’t need anymore, we got it.’”

He recently reiterated the statement during a sit-down with Dana Carvey and David Spade for their Fly on the Wall podcast.

"This story is done," he said during the recording. "It sounds like such a political answer, but it's the truth. We only conceived these three [seasons], then this thing became this big ol' thing."

By “big ol’ thing” he means that Ted Lasso — a show that was intended to make folks laugh during an especially trying time — far exceeded his and the cast’s expectations after winning not one, not two, but 11 Emmys since airing, including for Outstanding Comedy Series for both its first and second seasons.

Will there be a Ted Lasso spinoff?

While Jason doesn’t intend to work on any future Ted Lasso seasons, he hasn’t packed the Ted Lasso universe away for good. “I think that we’ve set the table for all sorts of folks…to get to watch the further telling of these stories,” he told Deadline back in March. So now the question is: Which character will get a spinoff first? Fans of social media have demanded a spin-off show, and have vocalized who they would like to see get their own show. Roy is a top contender, as are Keeley and Rebecca.

"Honestly, the only thought still going through my head after the #TedLassoFinale is how freaking hyped I am at the idea of a spinoff where Rebecca and Keeley start a Women's Premier League team at Richmond and beat out all the Super League teams," one person wrote on Twitter. "Roy Kent spin off pls," said another. "Now I would like Jason Sudeikis to work on a spin off called Young Roy. I need to know more about What Roy Kent was like as a kid and what he’s about to unpack in therapy," someone else said.

We'll just have to wait and see, and keep believing...
