Big wins for four local teams on Tuesday

The White Pigeon boys evened their season record to 9-9 with a win over Hartford on Tuesday.

The Chiefs won the game, 57-32.

Chris Jackson had a big game with 22 points and 10 rebounds with four assists, Josh Davidson put in 12 points for the Chiefs with four rebounds, two steals and two assists. Mekhi Singleton scored five points, adding seven rebounds with two assists and two steals.

The Chiefs got six points each from Gabe Adams and Wes Roberts.

Scoring two points each were Adam Picking, Tanner Row and Zach Sowards. Ty Strawser finished with two steals and two assists, Sowards grabbed four rebounds.

Colon wins again

The Colon Magi won a fourth consecutive game on Tuesday, beating Battle Creek St. Philip 82-42. The game was the Magi’s fifth game in seven days.

Colon got out ahead of the Fighting Tigers early, leading 19-8 after one quarter. Simon Vinson posted six points in the opening eight minutes, Maverick Downs put in five points and Justin Wickey added four.

Colon continued to score in the second. Wickey threw in nine points in the frame, Dalton Williams scored five points and the Magi led 37-17 at halftime.

In the final two quarters, Colon posted 25 in the third and 20 more in the fourth. The Fighting Tigers mustered only 25 total second-half points.

Wickey led all scorers with 29 points, Vinson tossed in 22. Both Downs and Williams added 10 points, Nic Mock scored six. Connor Hetman finished with four points and Franklin Edson connected on a free throw.

Centreville wins big

The Centreville boys beat Bloomingdale 75-29 on Tuesday.

Centreville beat Bloomingdale up in the first quarter. The Bulldogs posted 33 points, including getting 14 from Micah Lemings and six each from Harrison Gregory and Roman Robinson. The lead was 33-7 after one.

Heading back into the locker room for halftime, Centreville’s lead had ballooned to 45-14. The Bulldogs would come out in the third quarter with 21 points before scoring nine in the final eight minutes.

Lemings led with 18 points, Robinson put in 17 and Gregory finished with 16.

Corey Carpenter scored five, Brady Miller, Kobe Carpenter and CJ Noble each put in four points. Gavin Bunning hit a 3-pointer, both Declan Kane and Cohen Longacre scored two points.

Mendon beats Bangor

The Mendon boys picked up a 61-32 road win at Bangor on Tuesday.

“Great win for us on the road tonight. We came and had a huge first quarter and made some great decisions offensively to build an early lead and we never looked back,” Mendon coach Danny Schragg said. “Moved the ball really well tonight and again our press forced some turnovers. This was a really good win for us late in the season, we worked as a team and got the job done.”

Owen Gorham led the Hornets with 12 points, two steals and two rebounds while Luke Schinker tossed in 11 points with five assists. Jack McCaw put in 10 points with three steals. Mason Wilczynski also scored nine points.

Gabe Haigh scored eight points with six rebounds, Ryder Gorham, Eric Hessling and Dylan Cupp each scored three points. Noah Roberts added two points with six assists and four steals.

Decatur edges Marcellus

The Marcellus boys fell in a tight one to Decatur on Tuesday, 48-46.

Marcellus jumped ahead big in the opening quarter, building a 20-8 advantage. That lead dwindled a bit at halftime, there Marcellus was ahead at 30-24.

Decatur used a 16-8 run in the third quarter to pull ahead in the contest. The Raiders and Wildcats would each score eight points in the fourth.

Marcellus was led by Parker Adams with 15 points and eight rebounds, Nathan Mihills tossed in 12 points while Beau Ferguson scored 11. Both Dawson Lehew and Quinton Tone put in four points.

South Haven beats Constantine

The Constantine boys fell to South Haven on Tuesday, 49-42.

The Rams scored 14 points and led by a couple of buckets after one quarter. They also led at halftime, 25-14, as the Falcons scored just four points from Dean Topolski in the second.

Constantine trailed 36-23 entering the fourth, but was able to out-score South Haven at 19-13.

Topolski and Lukas Hagenbuch each scored 11 points. Ethan Glick tossed in six while Kaiden Salisbury scored five, Isaac Moore added four, Joshua Outlaw scored three and Carter McGee tossed in two.
