Big Lots, an Ohio-based retail operation, is planning on opening a new location in Grafton by next summer.

The store would be located at 1823 Wisconsin Ave. in Grafton, according to the plan submitted to the village. Big Lots will occupy about 39,000 square feet of space.

Big Lots sells home furniture, décor, bedding, rugs and small appliances, as well as apparel, electronics, candy and snacks, according to the company's website.

The hours of operation are scheduled to be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. The store will employ a maximum number of 10 employees per shift, and there will be four shifts, according to the proposal.

The news follows the opening of nearby Blain's Farm & Fleet in Grafton, located at 1771 Wisconsin Ave., which hosted its grand opening in October.

Big Lots submitted its conditional use plan to Grafton on Nov. 1, and the Plan Commission will review the plan Nov. 22, Village Community Development Director Jessica Wolff said.

If approved, the company estimated a completion of construction of June 9, 2023, with an anticipated opening date of Aug. 26, 2023.
