Who: Human rights advocate and former actress Bianca Jagger (née Blanca Pérez-Mora Macías), 75, and Rolling Stones musician Mick Jagger, 77.

How They Met: The couple reportedly met after a Rolling Stones concert in 1970. According to The Baltimore Sun, late painter and director Donald Cammell introduced the two at Bianca’s urging.

Less than a year later, Bianca and Mick wed in Saint-Tropez — a pregnant Bianca clad in a now-iconic Yves Saint Laurent suit and veil-bearing hat. The star-studded reception (attended by two Beatles — Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr) carried on until 4 a.m., though Bianca allegedly returned to her and Mick’s honeymoon suite by herself before the end of the party.

Bianca later told the New York Daily News that her “marriage was over on the wedding day.”

Why We Loved Them: Aesthetically, they were the perfect match. I mean look at them, they were just cool.

And, as many have pointed to through the decades, they even looked kind of similar.

"Mick looked into Bianca's face and saw — Mick,” one of the rocker’s former lovers told The Baltimore Sun. “It was as close as he could get to making love to himself."

A rock star with a big ego … how could it be??

These were the belles of every ball, Studio 54’s VIP-est of VIPs. But don’t get it twisted: Bianca did not ride a horse through the doors of N.Y.C.’s top nightlife destination — she walked in and then she rode the horse

But it wasn’t all about the superficial. Nearly a decade after her and Mick’s divorce, Bianca said her ex had "a wonderful sense of humor, that I can understand no matter what.” But nothing is shade-free: “I mean, he could be stabbing me in the back, but he can make me laugh while he does it."

When They Peaked: This had to be planned, right?

The Breakup: In 1978, after 7 years of marriage, Bianca filed for divorce.

Infidelity was something of a hallmark of the Jaggers’ marriage. The end, though, came over a year into Mick’s relationship with model Jerry Hall. Bianca sued for divorce on the grounds of adultery.

Bianca was rumored to have had affairs as well, most notably with Jack Ford (President Gerald Ford’s son), with whom she posed in the Lincoln bedroom for a spread in her good friend Andy Warhol’s Interview magazine.

A friend also noted the “definite competition” between the Jaggers, which infiltrated the nightlife scene they both took obvious pride in helming. "[Bianca] was definitely the queen at Studio 54, and Mick resented being upstaged."

In 1986, Bianca told Vanity Fair that she and Alana Stewart (Rod Stewart’s ex-wife) had joked about “writing a cheek-in-tongue book on How to Survive Marriage and Divorce to a Rock 'n' Roll Star.”

“We were saying what are the qualities required: submission,” she went on. “It's probably the most male-chauvinistic-oriented society. A rock star is the worst husband a woman could have."

It seemed that Bianca, who went into the marriage adamant that she was “not going to become Mrs. So-and-so,” chafed against her husband’s own expectations.

In fact, it seemed Mick’s attitude toward women in general was a point of contention (as it should be).

"Mick was obsessed with the idea of gold diggers," Bianca told VF. "He sees all women as tarts."

Bianca said that she was “terrified of all women” for a long time, due in part because of “the way things went on in my marriage.”

“I think it had a lot to do with the fact that Mick always ... because of his not liking women,” she claimed, “It sort of catched on to me.”

In 2020, Bianca named her divorce as her biggest disappointment. “I was brought up Catholic, to believe that marriage is for life,” she told The Guardian. “And we failed.”

Where They Are Now:

Bianca never remarried and her current relationship status remains unknown. Over the past decades, she’s focused her energy on social causes, with a particular emphasis on issues affecting her native Nicaragua.

Jagger and Hall welcomed four children together throughout their decades-long relationship, which ultimately came to an end in 1999. Currently, the musician is dating former ballerina Melanie Hamrick, with whom he shares a 4-year-old son named Deveraux.
