- In a YouTube video posted on July 24, Beyoncé revealed how she stuck to a new plant-based diet—a health plan called 22 Days Nutrition—to prepare for her 2018 Coachella performance.
- “I’m back onstage after giving birth to twins,” Beyoncé said in the video. “I was a woman that felt like my body was not mine.”
- She and trainer Marco Borges launched the 22 Days Nutrition Meal Planner, which provides custom recipes for members.
“Good morning. It’s 5 a.m., and this is day one of rehearsals for Coachella,” Beyoncé says at the beginning of a two-and-a-half-minute video that was posted on her YouTube channel yesterday. The camera pans down, showing an aerial shot of her feet as she steps onto a weight scale. The numbers on the scale blink until eventually settling on 175 pounds. “Long way to go,” she says, zooming in on the number. “Let’s get it.”
Thus began Bey’s dramatically documented journey to elevating herself to a healthier lifestyle. To prepare for her physically demanding 2018 Coachella performance (which she totally nailed, BTW), the Grammy Award winner adapted the plant-based diet plan 22 Days Nutrition, a program developed by her personal trainer, Marco Borges. She followed the plan for 44 days to meet her Coachella goals.
“I’m back onstage after giving birth to twins,” she says in the video, which showed footage of Beyoncé rehearsing choreography for her acclaimed performance. “I was a woman that felt like my body was not mine.”
She also highlighted the difference between the toxic mind-set of solely pursuing weight loss versus pursuing a lifestyle that enhances bodily health and movement. “Me getting the weight off was so much easier than getting back in shape and my body feeling comfortable,” she says in the video.
Borges also made appearances in the video, further discussing the importance of optimizing the body’s functionality by feeding it right.
While talking to Beyoncé’s backup dancers during rehearsals, Borges says, “You guys have super-long schedules. I know what that’s like. You need the energy to be able to move around. You have a lot happening right now. But we also want to make sure that we’re taking care of ourselves.”
According to Borges, following a plant-based diet means “eliminating all the overly processed foods that don’t do us any good anyways. When you’re eating plant based, you will definitely have more energy. You will definitely sleep better. You’re definitely gonna have improved complexions. Your mood is gonna change completely.”
Beyoncé and Borges launched the 22 Days Nutrition Meal Planner, which offers customized meal recipes to members.
