Beyoncé remembered her idol and musical influence Tina Turner as a "beloved queen" in a tribute on her website on Thursday, recalling the duo's iconic performance at the 2008 Grammys.

"My beloved queen," Beyoncé wrote. "I love you endlessly. I'm so grateful for your inspiration, and all the ways you have paved the way."

She also spoke to the "strength and resilience" of the late Queen of Rock & Roll, adding: "We are all so fortunate to have witnessed your kindness and beautiful spirit that will forever remain."

With the message, the 41-year-old shared a photo of her performing with Turner during the 2008 Grammys.

The performance, which spread across social media after Turner's death on Wednesday, shows the duo singing "Proud Mary" together.

Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles, also shared a post on Instagram dedicated to the 2008 performance, calling it one of her daughter's best memories.

When the two hugged and began rehearsing for the first time, Knowles said, it was like watching Beyoncé "turning into a five-year-old actually skipping across the floor to embrace her."

Turner — whose legendary music career included hits such as "Proud Mary," "Private Dancer," and "The Best" — died on Wednesday after a long illness, her family said. She was 83 years old.

"With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model," Turner's family said in a statement.
