  • Beyoncé Knowles is on the cover of Elle's January 2020 issue.

  • In a candid Q&A with fans, Beyoncé opened up about motherhood, body image, and success.

  • In one answer, Beyoncé revealed that even she gets teased about her corny mom jokes by her oldest daughter, Blue Ivy.

We already know Beyoncé through the prism of her tremendous accomplishments as a singer, artist, actor, producer, director, designer of IVY Park, and cultural presence. But in a rare Q&A for Elle's January 2020 issue, the pop star gave us a glimpse behind the curtain of super-stardom.

Answering fans' questions, Beyoncé opened up about success, body image, and raising three children with her husband, Jay-Z. But one of the interview's funniest—and most relatable—reveals? To 7-year-old Blue Ivy, Beyoncé's oldest daughter, Beyoncé isn't just a living legend. Just like her mother, Tina Lawson—who's become Instagram famous for telling "corny jokes"—Beyoncé is herself now a mom who tells embarrassing jokes that merit an eye-roll from her kids.

For the Lightning Round portion of the interview, which consisted of short questions, a fan asked Beyoncé to tell her own corny joke—and Beyoncé did not disappoint. She rose to the occasion with this zinger: "What do you call a deer with no eyes? No idea. Get it? NO-EYED-DEER."

The joke was so corny, in fact, that the singer felt she had to apologize. "I’m so sorry. Blue is absolutely going to kill me for telling that terrible joke," Beyoncé wrote. Clearly, the world bows down to Beyoncé...and Beyoncé bows down to Blue.

Throughout the "Ask Me Anything"-style story, Beyoncé emphasized the importance of motherhood in her life. She said that of all her many titles (from "chairwoman" to "global entertainer"), the one that gives her the most joy is "being Blue, Rumi, and Sir's mom."

Beyoncé also got real about the difficulties of being a working mom. Though she lives an objectively extraordinary life, her struggle to make time for all her responsibilities is universal.

"I think the most stressful thing for me is balancing work and life. Making sure I am present for my kids—dropping Blue off at school, taking Rumi and Sir to their activities, making time for date nights with my husband, and being home in time to have dinner with my family—all while running a company can be challenging. Juggling all of those roles can be stressful, but I think that’s life for any working mom," she said.

Still, Beyoncé manages to get it all done...and then some. The Elle story—which was written for the re-launch of her athleisure brand, Ivy Park, with adidas—is proof of her perpetually growing list of accomplishments.
