Beware: This Starbucks Order Customization Will Now Cost You Extra
It was just last week when Starbucks' new CEO, Laxman Narasimhan, announced that he was looking to make some big changes, and now one major change is expected to be put into place as soon as tomorrow.
If you're a Starbucks Refresher fan, you won't be too happy with this news. According to Business Insider, it will now cost you an extra $1 if you'd like a Refresher with no water.
Over the last couple of years, the no-water customization has become a bit of a viral hack online. One TikTok video in particular showed a customer ordering a Refresher without water and then creating two drinks out of the beverage. They dubbed the hack the "Broke Girl Strawberry Refresher."

Some say it is on all "light/no ice" in any iced drink, some say only refresher.
Some say it is is only applicable to no water in refresher.

Following the news of the upcharge, there's been a bit of confusion on Twitter about whether or not customers will also be charged for little or no ice, but Business Insider reports that those customizations will remain free.
And if you're still trying to make sense of the news, a rep for Starbucks provided a breakdown of why the change was made. Essentially, they're treating the water-free Refresher like every other drink customization.
"This change allows us to provide a more consistent approach to customization, similar to other beverage customizations such as an adding an espresso shot or syrup, which incur an additional charge," the spokesperson shared with Business Insider.
One particular Starbucks employee, who chose to remain anonymous, seemed less than pleased at the idea of being responsible for informing customers of the new charge.
"As with other such changes, the responsibilities of informing customers will largely fall to partners in store," they revealed to Business Insider.
Fingers crossed that Starbucks' next menu changes are tastier.
