The Best Travel Humidifier
Traveling is the absolute best, but one downside that often accompanies packing up my bags, hopping on a plane, and spending the night in a hotel is dry air. Waking up with a stuffy nose, a dry throat, or scratchy skin can really put a damper on any vacation or travel experience. But since I’ve been using the Fancii Cool Mist Personal Mini Humidifier, I’ve kissed my dry-air worries goodbye.
The little device is the epitome of convenience. The circular, travel-size humidifier can fit into the palm of your hand and it weighs hardly anything — clocking in at just under four ounces — so you can easily toss it in your carry-on tote bag. It works with pretty much any standard 16- or 20-ounce water bottle (like Evian, Fiji, Dasani, etc.) and it can work for up to 18 hours at a time. So even when you need that jet lag–induced zombie sleep, you’ll be set with clean, moist air. And honestly, it just feels fancy to travel with your very own personal humidifier.
You can power the Fancii humidifier with three AA batteries or by plugging it into a USB — I just plug it into my iPhone cube. It features three timer settings (a two-hour, four-hour, or eight-hour stream of continuous humidified air) and it’ll shut off automatically. In my experience, one water bottle can last about a week, but this really depends on how often you use it.
In the package, you can expect to find the humidifier, a USB cord, and a little cap adapter that attaches the water bottle to the base of the device. There's a filter, too, which is easy to swap out and should be replaced every two or three months.
Amazon's product description boasts a silent stream of air, but I’ve noticed that there’s a barely-there hum, which I sort of like — a little white noise can be great, especially if you’re sleeping in a hotel or near other people. Either way, it’s my one-way ticket to sweet, humidified dreams when I’m on the road, especially in the dry season.
