For those headed to Paris, it will come as no surprise that the city has an abundance of fabulous hotels across both the left and right banks and peppered through the spiral arrondissements. How does one possibly know where to choose? Decisions are made simpler with a bit of direction—and we're pointing you towards to newly opened Hôtel Madame Rêve, the first arrondissement's shining new jewel of a stay... which just so happens to located in a post office. With breathtaking views of the city, and a rooftop lounge that is sure to be the spot of the summer, it's a can't miss. Here, we caught up with René Blino, General Manager at Hôtel Madame Rêve to delve into what sets this new hotspot apart from the pack.
What do you consider to be the best room at the property and why?
Our mythical room is the "Suite Madame Rêve Vue Exceptionnelle avec Terrasse" which bears the name of the hotel. This suite offers a magnificent view of Saint Eustache’s Church that you can admire from your bed, as well as from its beautiful terrace. It also offers not only a view of Saint Eustache but also a 180-degree view of Paris.
How much does it cost per night?
The suite is priced at 1800 euros per night (approx. $1,932 USD).
How would describes the guests that stay at the hotel and the general atmosphere/vibe?
Our guests are usually couples on a getaway in the city of lovers. We also have families visiting the city of lights. We don't just offer our guests rooms and beds, but real moments of life.
What do you think gives the hotel such a unique identity?
Madame Rêve is a journey. From the ground floor to the third floor, you travel through time. The ground floor is immersed in a historical decor in homage to the Louvre post office dating from the 19th century (1888). You will be very surprised when you take the lift which transports you from the 19th to the 21st century in only 3 floors. Moreover, unlike other hotels, Madame Rêve offers an unprecedented and radical view of a Paris. From sunrise to sunset, our guests can admire a panorama of exceptional views from the balconies of the rooms.
What is a local attractions that you always recommend to guests?
We are fortunate to be in the heart of Paris. The first arrondissement is a lively and commercial area with so many beautiful things to discover. We usually suggest to our guests to visit the Pinault collection which is only 2 minutes’ walk from the hotel. For those who like shopping, we suggest a visit to La Samaritaine which is a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
We also have the famous Louvre Museum nearby that you can't miss when you come to visit Paris—it is one of the most beautiful museums in the city. Being very close to the Marais, we also recommend nice walks in the pedestrian streets of this colorful and diverse district.
What sets the Madame Reve apart from its peers in the area?
What sets us apart from our competitors, in addition to the “savoir-faire français” that is showcased throughout the hotel, is the atmosphere and vibe that emerges as soon as you open the door. Warmly dressed in wood, all rooms offer an enveloping and luxurious dimension and most of them open onto a terrace, a rarity in Paris. Right in the center of the city and under the sky, the Madame Rêve hotel is a unique discovery for all lovers of Paris.
The 1st (arrondissement) has changed greatly over the last decade—how does Madame Reve contribute to the new feel of the neighborhood, and how do you think the area will continue to evolve?
The first arrondissement is the historic district of Paris. We are, after all, in the footsteps of Louis XIV! Madame Rêve doesn’t go against the history of France, on the contrary, it continues it. Located in a historic building, in a historic district, with a historic decor. Our hotel is a reference to history—the history of France. So, I will reference the journey I mentioned earlier. We are in a historic setting, but we offer a new vision once you reach the third floor! An innovative vision that evolves with the neighborhood. Our restaurant on the top floor is a a fusion between Japan and France, La Plume illustrates our journey and this innovation that pushes cultures to intermingle to bring about a better future
