The Emmy's are usually a fairly... (how to put this nicely...) predictable evening of self-congratulatory television. But tonight, one winner instantly captured the attention of every multitasker half watching the Awards.

Glen Weiss, who won for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special for the Oscars, began his moving acceptance speech by honoring his mother, who had died just a few weeks before.

"Mom always believed in finding the sunshine in things and she adored my girlfriend Jan. Jan, you are the sunshine in my life, and mom was right. Don't ever let go of your sunshine," Weiss said before launching into an epic marriage proposal to his girlfriend Jan.

"You wonder why I don't like to call you my girlfriend?" he said. "Because I want to call you my wife."

The crowd, both in the room and on Twitter, immediately went wild, and Jan headed up on the stage where Weiss finished popping the question.

"Jan, I want to put this ring that my mom wore on your finger in front of all these people and in front of my mom and your parents watching from above. Will you marry me?"

Fortunately for everyone, Jan said yes.
