The Best Nail Polish Colors for Spring 2020

The warmer weather is reason to celebrate, and what better way to do so than with some spring-inspired nail polish colors? If you're like me, painting your nails a creamy pastel purple or a vibrant hot pink instantly lifts my mood after months of avoiding the cold, as I binge-watch TV shows on my couch.

That said, tossing my dark nail polishes to the side is easy, but deciding what bright color to go with for my next manicure is a struggle. That's why I turned to Michelle Saunders, celebrity manicurist and founder of Saunders & James nail salon in Oakland, Calif., as well as Hannah Lee, nail artist and Sally Hansen nail expert, to get the lowdown on all of the nail polish colors that are trending for spring 2020.

Saunders says that "citrus shades inspired by the natural tones in grapefruit, citron, lime, and mandarin oranges" are on-trend for spring. Wear one color on its own or mix them up for a fruit salad-inspired manicure. The manicurist loves Essie's Check Your Baggage, a creamy vibrant yellow.

Yes, glitter nail polish isn't just for the holidays. In fact, Lee predicts that metallic manicures are going to be everywhere this spring, because they're eye-catching and will spice up any outfit. Deborah Lippmann's silver Fallin' is a great way to lean into the trend. Bonus: It's sheer, so it can be used as a top coat to give your favorite polish a metallic finish, while a few coats of it on its own creates a bold sparkly manicure.
