If you’re finding yourself seeking out the familiar and meditative action of putting together a jigsaw puzzle as of late, know that you’re not alone. According to one of the biggest North American puzzle manufacturers, Ravensburger, the company has seen a 370 per cent increase vs. this time last year.
It makes sense that amid times of stress, people are choosing to partake in relaxing activities like puzzles, as well as things like bath and beauty products, sales of which Etsy reported seeing a spike during the month over the course of the pandemic.
Personally, I’ve tried my hand at a few new hobbies, including puzzles, cross-stitch and nail art, which I would never have attempted prior to the increase in free time while I’m at home. They can be a great way to pass the time alone, or a way to build a sense of teamwork if you’re spending time at home with a roommate, spouse, or kids.
