Any family who booked a hotel at the last minute only to check into a room above an after-hours nightclub knows the importance of picking appropriate lodgings. To that end, a report released today aims to highlight which hotels and resorts best cater to families around the world.

The travel site Family Vacation Critic announced its Favorite Hotel Awards, which represent the top 12 percent of their listings. They based the winners on two factors: the hotels had to receive a four- or five-star editorial rating and be personally visited by a member of the site’s team, and they had to be recommended by 75 percent of reviewers, with the same rating.

Top-rated hotels by geography included the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, Cozumel Palace, and Hampton Inn Daytona Beach/Beachfront.

“These winners represent hotels that truly excel as family-friendly properties,” said Lissa Poirot, Family Vacation Critic’s editor-in-chief.  “Because awards are only given to hotels that receive a high rating from both our team of experts and  family travelers who have stayed at the property, the Family Vacation Critic Favorite Hotels designation offers parents a credible stamp of approval to use when searching for the perfect hotel for their family.”
