Benedict Cumberbatch's all-white Met Gala 2019 look is the talk of Twitter: 'Colonel Sanders vibes'

If there was ever a time to go big or go home, it was the 2019 Met Gala, where the “camp” theme inspired all-star attendees like Lady Gaga — who wore no fewer than four outfits in her procession along the red carpet — to push the proverbial envelope.

And nobody could accuse Benedict Cumberbatch of not trying. The Avengers: Endgame actor looked dapper in a white Tom Wolfe-meets-”Smooth Criminal” Labassa Woolfe suit, complete with matching fedora, embellished velvet loafers, a tasseled cane and — to the delight of Marvel fans — a tie pin inspired by the Time Stone. Wife Sophie Hunter proved a fitting companion in her voluminous lilac gown.

In a sea of black tuxes, Cumberbatch’s bold look was a real standout. And while the all-white ensemble earned rave reviews, it couldn’t dodge comparisons to everyone from Colonel Sanders to Fantasy Island’s Mr. Roarke. Here’s what Twitter had to say...
