Ben Simmons, Jaylen Brown send cryptic tweets after another All-Star snub
Philadelphia 76ers rookie guard Ben Simmons and Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown aren’t trying to hide their feelings about Andre Drummond being selected to the NBA All-Star Game over them.
Both players seemed pretty disappointed to hear Drummond would replace Washington Wizards guard John Wall in the All-Star Game. Drummond was selected as a replacement for Wall by commissioner Adam Silver.
Right after the news was announced, both Simmons and Brown sent out some cryptic tweets.

Simmons was considered a snub the moment All-Stars were announced. The 21-year-old is averaging 16.6 points and 7.3 assists per game and has the 76ers playing relevant basketball for the first time in years.
Brown didn’t make as many snub lists at first, but he had the support of Golden State Warriors big man Draymond Green. That seemed to mean a lot to Brown, who retweeted Green’s thoughts earlier in the day.

The 24-year-old Drummond is known mainly for his defensive ability. He leads the league in total rebounds and defensive win shares. He hasn’t been a slouch on offense, either. Drummond’s 14.7 points per game just edges out Brown’s 14.1 points per game this season.
Simmons and Brown did not provide any context to their tweets, so we can’t know for sure they were in reference to Drummond being named an All-Star over them. But their timing is curious, especially after Brown made it clear he wanted to be on the team earlier in the day.
If anyone can understand their frustrations it should be Drummond. After he was snubbed initially, Drummond responded with a NSFW message on Twitter.
Simmons and Brown didn’t go that far, which is probably for the best. It’s never a good idea to drop f-bombs right before the commissioner decides whether you become an All-Star.
Sure, that strategy worked for Drummond, but that seems like a rare exception to the rule.
