Ben Affleck Jokes About His "Very Unhappy-Looking Resting Face" After the Grammys
Ben Affleck is having a great time—despite his meme-worthy facial expressions!
The actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! yesterday to promote his new film, Air, and during the interview, he discussed those viral memes that came from his 2023 Grammys appearance. For those who don't recall, Affleck attended the awards show with wife Jennifer Lopez, and in photos taken of the two during the ceremony, the actor looks downright miserable.
"I have a very unhappy-looking resting face," Affleck told Kimmel.
To prove his point, he showed both his content and his amused face, both of which made him look uninterested bordering on displeased.
"That's how God made me," he joked. "You don't have to punish me for it."
Kimmel brought up Affleck and Lopez's Christmas party—to which the show host was invited along with other celebrity friends of the couple–and told him, "It did seem like you weren't quite as psyched about the party as everybody else."
"That's a common misconception about me," Affleck replied.
Affleck previously addressed his alleged unhappy resting face in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter following the Grammys.
"I had a good time at the Grammys. My wife was going, and I thought, 'Well, there'll be good music. It might be fun.' At movie award shows, it's speeches and, like, sound-mixing webinars. But I thought this would be fun," he said.
He explained the highly meme'd moment, when host Trevor Noah unexpectedly approached the couple, televising a seemingly uncomfortable Affleck in the process.
"I saw [Trevor Noah approach] and I was like, 'Oh, God.' They were framing us in this shot, but I didn't know they were rolling," Affleck told THR. "I leaned into her and I was like, 'As soon they start rolling, I'm going to slide away from you and leave you sitting next to Trevor.' She goes, 'You better fucking not leave.' That's a husband-and-wife thing."
