Ben Affleck and J-Lo Are Watching 'Yellowstone' Like The Rest of Us
I often wonder what celebrities are obsessing over on their TVs. Are Jay-Z and Beyoncé also trying to guess who the antler queen is on Yellowjackets? Do Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez unabashedly love Grogu?
Well, I now know one place where celebrity fandom overlaps—and I almost couldn't believe what I heard when it entered my earbuds this morning. It occurred about halfway through Affleck and Matt Damon's appearance on the latest episode of The Bill Simmons Podcast, as the duo promoted their new film, AIR. “My wife really likes Yellowstone," Affleck said of J-Lo's TV habits. "Part of me thinks she’s really drawn to the romance between Cole Hauser and [Kelly Reilly]."
Yellowstone?! All of America really is watching. Do go on, Mr. Affleck. "Jen showed me a clip on Instagram of a monologue [Reilly] has in a car about the ways to become rich. She was like ‘I love this story with these two," and I was like, ‘Wait a minute, with Cole [Hauser]?’” Fans may recall that Hauser, Affleck, and Damon all worked together on the set of School Ties back in 1992, with the trio remaining good friends ever since.
Damon added that he's "always mystified that Cole wasn’t a giant movie star." Even as a 16-year-old on the set of School Ties, Hauser was "the sweetest soul" and "very deserving" of the role he's played on Yellowstone for six seasons. Hauser is "very convincing as that guy,” Affleck said. “I think America believes he is Rip.” Wait, Cole Hauser isn't not Rip in real life? That may be Yellowstone's biggest shocker yet.
Anyway, now I'm imagining a future for Yellowstone that swaps Kevin Costner for Jennifer Lopez. J-Lostone, anyone?
