Bella Thorne Reveals on Twitter That She's Been Molested: 'The World Can Be a Sick Place'

Bella Thorne is the latest star speaking out about sexual assault in Hollywood. The 20-year-old actress, singer and social media star shocked fans with a Tweet on Friday revealing that she has been the victim of molestation.

The revelation came in response to a cruel comment left on one of her photos, in which one Twitter user asked: “What did Disney do to this girl?! I think she was molested.” Thorne fired back by saying, “Yeah I was. So it wasn’t Disney.”

Following a flood of supportive messages from fans, Thorne elaborated a short time later by saying simply, “The world can be a sick place sometimes.” To date, she has not added any further details about the assault.

Among those sending positive notes her way is her boyfriend, rapper Mod Sun. “Love u mama ur the strongest person I know,” he tweeted.

This isn’t the first time Thorne has opened her heart on social media. In September she shared an unretouched photo from her shoot with GQ Mexico in an effort to promote body positivity and wipe away the feelings of insecurity many women have when they compare themselves to the seemingly perfect bodies of other celebrities.

“Lemme tell you, I have insecurities about pretty much everything,” Thorne captioned the image. “That’s natural and that’s human.”

“You might look at this photo and think, ‘Oh shush, Bella.’ But just know every time someone looks in the mirror, they simply don’t see what everyone else sees,” she added. “Know that it’s completely normal to feel insecure and it’s accepted.”

The Disney Channel alum went on to explain that she wished “everyone talked more about their insecurities so more people in the world could know they aren’t alone [and] that it’s okay.”
