Bella Thorne accused of 'glamorizing being physically abused' with bloody Halloween makeup
Bella Thorne has shared an eyebrow-raising makeup look for Halloween that’s upsetting some fans.
The 22-year-old shared a trio of selfies to Instagram on Wednesday showing a bruised jawline, swollen and bruised eye, and a cut on her lip, prompting many to think the former Disney star had been assaulted, only to realize it was just makeup.
“Hire me for your Halloween makeup I got u boo,” the actress and director wrote alongside the images, which may be triggering for some.
A number of fans have slammed the images, accusing the star of “glamorizing being physically abused.”
“Why is glamorizing being physically abused culturally appropriate during Halloween?” one fan asked.
“I'm not the only one who thinks it's insensitive,” another agreed.
“I don’t understand the point of this. Is she trying to be a battered woman? F**ked,” another wrote.
One conceded the star may have just been showing off her makeup skills, but agreed that the photo was “triggering.”
“I just find this post slightly triggering and surprising as she is a strong spokeswoman against abuse and such,” the commenter explained.
“Looks like domestic violence to me,” another wrote.
On Thursday, Thorne posted a photo of what appears to be her actual Halloween costume: a sexy Girl Scout.
