Hey there, Gossip Girl fans. There's a new GG running this city, and they're causing quite the stir in the Upper East Side. As the students of Constance Billard and St. Jude deal with the pressures of high school and upholding their social status, they also have to watch out for the anonymous online gossip airing out their all of their secrets.

After the season 1 finale, we found out that the new Gossip Girl may have struck a deal with it-girl Julien Calloway — but she may have more tricks up her sleeve. Fans have tons of questions about the fate of their fave characters like Julien, Zoya, Luna, Monet, Audrey, Aki, Max, and Obie in the show's upcoming season. Hopefully, we'll get some answers in the sophomore season, which was announced in September 2021.

According to Deadline, HBO Max renewed Gossip Girl after the first six episodes of season 1 garnered record-breaking views over the "first four days of availability." What can we say? People love them some Gossip Girl, and the proof is in the numbers. So what can we expect from our Upper East Siders in season 2? And when will the next chapter debut on HBO Max? Ahead, find everything you need to know about season 2 of the Gossip Girl reboot.

When does season Gossip Girl season 2 premiere?

HBO Max confirmed that season 2 of Gossip Girl debuts on HBO Max on December 1 in the new trailer for the upcoming season.

Who will return to the season 2 cast?

We can expect the core cast of Jordan Alexander as Julien, Whitney Peak as Zoya, Zión Moreno as Luna, Savannah Lee Smith as Monet, Emily Alyn Lind as Audrey, Evan Mock as Aki, Thomas Doherty as Max, and Eli Brown as Obie to all return for the second season.

As for new additions? On October 27, Gossip Girl showrunner Joshua Safran revealed to Teen Vogue that the one and only Miss Georgina Sparks returns for season 2 of the reboot series. Yes, we'll give you a moment to read that sentence again. The one and only Miss Georgina Sparks returns (!!!!) for season 2 of the reboot series.

ICYMI, Georgina Sparks — portrayed by actress Michelle Trachtenberg — was introduced as a frenemy of Serena van der Woodsen's in the OG Gossip Girl and became arguably the biggest (and best?) villain in the series. In season 4, she gave birth to her son Milo. Now 10 years old, Milo's appearance in the fourth episode of season 1 opened the door for his mother's potential return. And now, we finally have confirmation. Georgina is back.

"What she brought to the original series was anarchy," Safran told Teen Vogue. "She’s an anarchist. She'll just do anything and just for any reason she decides. So we brought that energy to the first show, and then we brought that energy back to this one. She's the same, and that's what I think is so fun, that Michelle is older, we're all older, Georgina is older yet has the exact same energy. She's out of time."

"Where she's introduced has a tie to the first show that I love, that is so funny, and it relates to characters from the original show, and she just has this little run of dialogue about how she's been interacting with characters from the original show in the last 15 years," Safran added. "It's one of my favorite parts of this whole season."

On June 22, a teaser trailer dropped on the official @gossipgirl Instagram account that seemed to suggest her return. Suffice to say, we are speechless.

Is there a trailer for season 2?

Welcome back, followers. HBO Max just released the official trailer for Gossip Girl season two, and it's so good.

The highly-anticipated second season picks right up with our fave Upper East Siders in the middle of Junior year. Gossip Girl season two proves that there is more drama, more trouble, and more scandal brewing in the lives of Manhattan's Elite. Opposition arises as old enemies and new allies emerge, leaving room for only one queen. The drama-filled season will take viewers on a wild ride, but at the end of the school year, there will only be one person left holding the royal crown. We can't wait to see who it is.

Are there any pics from season 2?

Calling all Upper East Siders — HBO Max just dropped some new steamy pics to hold us all over until the season 2 premiere on December 1. In the photos, we see Max and Aki share a kiss, as well as Julien and a new mystery man. Zoya's friend, Shan, is also seen hooking up with an unknown character while Monet seems to be having a steamy makeout sesh with someone new.

HBO Max released a small batch of new photos on October 27. Our Upper East Siders have returned to Constance Billard and St. Jude for the second semester of junior year, and judging by the looks on their faces, it won't be a quiet one.

On March 16, 2022, the cast was spotted filming in New York City. Paparazzi snapped pics of Jordan Alexander, Savannah Lee Smith, Zión Moreno, Whitney Peak, Emily Alyn Lynd, Evan Mock, and Thomas Doherty during the shoot, and let's just say, their outfits for season 2 are seriously on point. See for yourself:

What does the cast think of the identity of Gossip Girl being revealed so early?

If you tuned in to the new Gossip Girl then you know that, unlike the original series, the reboot disclosed the mysterious character's identity early on. Gossip Girl reboot star Whitney Peak dished on what disclosing Gossip Girl's reveal meant to her.

"That catches you off guard, right? I read the script and I was like what, why do we know it from the very beginning," she said in an interview with The Lateral. "But I think it’s different once you think about it as an audience member. It lets them in on a secret that the cast doesn’t know about. It feels more personal."

What will season 2 be about?

At the end of the season 1 finale, Kate Keller and the other teachers at Constance Billiard and St. Jude — a.k.a the brains behind the new Gossip Girl — released all the anonymous tips they received in a spreadsheet and revealed the identities of everyone who submitted them. It was definitely a chaotic gesture on their part, but they did it with the intention of ending their run as Gossip Girl. That is, until Kate strikes a deal with the most influential teen in the Upper East Side: Julien. She offers to send GG everything she knows about everyone, but the catch is not all of it will be true. Kate, who had just been royally screwed over by Monet's mom, Camila, agrees to Julien's deal and posts something that has yet to be revealed in season 2. Only time will tell, but something tells us this plotline will definitely wreak more havoc in the UES.

In conversation with Teen Vogue, Joshua Safran says that season 2 will feel more like the original CW series. "If people didn't finish the first season or for some reason want a vibe that's more reminiscent of the original, it's definitely there [in season 2]," he said. "It really is bigger, faster, meaner, funnier."

Before season 2 was officially confirmed, Safran dished his plans for the future of the series. "I definitely would love to keep the show going," he told Harper's Bazaar. "I engineered it so that every season is a semester, so that we didn't get into the problem the first show got into, which was by Season 3, they had to go to college. Which, at the time, I think was the right decision. When you look back, then, of course, you could have stayed at high school longer. If every season is a semester and they're going to be juniors now, they would go to college in Season 5."

What has the cast been up to?

Gossip Girl stars Evan Mock, Thomas Doherty, and Eli Brown enjoyed a night out on the town one day before the hit reboot was scheduled to begin filming.

Right on time for Galentine's Day, the trio celebrated Pandora Jewelry's "Little Acts of Love" in honor of the newly launched Pandora Padlock and Heart Key Charms.
